Anyone shoot cast bullets from an M&P or PPQ? For those that have measured the bore, what are the measurements?

I've been shooting Missouri Bullet .356" 124gr out of my M&P9 without any issues, but haven't measured the bore. I'm thinking of grabbing a PPQ next.

You may find accuracy a bit better if you go to .357 with the M&P. I moved to .357 on my 125 and 147 gr bullets and accuracy improved for me. No leading either

I haven't meadured the bore but am getting great results with .358 boolits in an M&P and also in a M& P shield.

I shot about 75rnd of .356 124gr Missouri bullet LRN out of my M&P9c this morning. Does this look like leading to you or just powder residue? This is after a cleaning with a brush and running a few swabs of a copper chore boy through. The copper chore boy didn't produce any lead and I don't see any chunks of lead when looking down the bore. However, the grooves don't appear super shiny, but more matte.

Sure looks like leading to me.

That is leading. Go with larger bullets and make sure they are hard. Better yet get into casting.

Uggghh. Any recommendations for .358 bullets? I have these loaded pretty light. They are around 1025fps. Does powder choice affect leading any?

Sometimes but I suspect you have to soft of bullets sized to small. You might run into loading problems with .358 bullets. I would go .357. Doesn't Missouri Bullets offer hard cast bullets. Most commercial casters do. Smith barrels are pretty consistent so I doubt the barrel is an issue.

Wrap some 100% copper Chor Boy pad strands around a wire brush to get the leading out. Were those bullets lubed? I have never seen leading quite that bad.

Your velocity is fine.

Yep, they were lubed. Rated at 18 brinell hardness. They are the "smallball" type. I shot a few mags of these out of my Glock 17 and didn't get any leading. You'd think the Glocks would lead up much worse because of the rifling.

Is 1100fps too fast?

Then my guess would be to go to .357 bullets. Measure the bullets, if you have any still loose as well. Missouri bullets should be fine and if they are as hard as indicated then the size is the issue.

I'm not an expert by any means, but might that fouling be more a mixture of boolit lube and powder residue?

The boolits may well be too small, and the hard lube they come with makes it worse. If you have to use commercial slugs I would try some .357 truncated cone or round nose, which are sold for the .38 Special. 1025 fps is the perfect velocity for 9mm boolits, that's within 50 fps of all my favorite loads. I would focus on diameter and lube in search of the right boolit for your gun.
