View Full Version : I stumbled across some vintage 35 caliber Speer "half jackets" on GB today
Not sure what these would be useful for?

Just curious here. What would someone use those for?

Typically they are used for bullet swaging.

Link below with some more information about the process, from the Swaging section here on Cast Boolits.

they are for squeezing up into 9mm or 357 bullets.
I use a NOE 140gr 8mm T/L mold for my cores.
but you can make round nose, swc, etc shapes, depending on the nose punch you use.

And Speer used to make a half jacketed SWC bullet that used that jacket or similar. I found the 146 gr. JHP version to be a great bullet in 357 magnum.
Thanks gents. :drinks: Good info as usual.
