I am looking for a 44 cal mold that throws around a 300 +/- grain boolit. I prefer a gas check design and a wide flate meplate. I know that Lyman had one and I believe the mold number was 429650 but not totally sure. The bullet I am looking for is very much like a LBT WFNGC. Does anybody know which mold I am looking for? And where I can find one?
Thanks for looking,
Rich

reloading rich,
Have you looked at Ranch Dog Molds. I think he has something you would like. Try this http://www.ranchdogmolds.com/

It sounds like you are looking for this one.

It is the Lee 310Gr with a Gas Check.

Here is a thread with the load I have for it for my Marlin in .44 mag. :) http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?p=290627#post290627

But as also noted you can also look into Ranch Dog here on the forum. I have his mold but as of yet been able to cast any. But I am looking forward to it.

This is the Ranch Dog 300Gr one. http://www.ranchdogmolds.com/

Either one should hit like a MACK Truck. :)

I have found the Lee 310 to be one the the most accurate bullets out of every one of my 44 mag's
And in the 444 it is in the top 2 or 3

Also it preforms great on deer and hogs

tried the Lee 310gr over 12 gr 2400. Averages 850 fps out of 7.5" SBH.:Fire:

What gun or guns are you planning on using this in? Are you going to run it through a lubri-sizer or?

I got a used LBT WFN GC 432 300 cheap, but it didn't feed very well in my 1894 MARLIN 44s. A great boolit, but not for my primary purpose for it. I've used boolits from 160 to 300 in 44 Magnum VAQUEROS and BLACKHAWKS; Point of aim/Point of Impact problems or you can run out of sight adjustment.

My current projects are a RANCH DOG 432 265 boolit for the MARLINS and the 200 grain double ended wadcutter from GLL's group buy for revolvers. Very different boolits for different requirements. If it's a plinker from a handgun, the gas checks are getting a bit expensive for low end loads.

You've got a good discussion started. Now we can get some information and opinions! LOL

I've had great luck with the Lee 310, as a matter of fact I cast a bunch up this weekend. I've never fired one at game yet, but I intend to this next deer season. They've shot good out of my 629, and I'm hoping they'll group well out of my Marlin Cowboy II.
