Would like to scrounge up some old 12 Ga barrels for a non-shooting project, older the better, can even saw them in half to save shipping, I need the breech ends mostly. Glad to buy and pay shipping for whatever you would like to part with. Let me know please.. MERRY CHRISTMAS Castboolits!

I got 8 with two with breech sections. Six are ones I cut off to monoblock,

but they still have some of the barrels heavy section..

Can cut them in half and send thickest half.

40 bucks plus shipping of about $25 for 8 barrels.ED.

Wish I wasn't already stretched so thin for the holidays. Old shotgun barrels make excellent knife stock at the forge, particularly the thinner muzzle end....

Alright talked it over with the wife. Not trying to horn in on DougGuy's deal. BUT hubel458 if you want to part with the old muzzle pieces and halves (depending on length short short pieces are less desirable for forging), and DougGuy doesn't want them let me know. I would like to work out a deal.

Thanks

Dougguy, Goodoleboy

I will let DougGuy answer ya first since he started this post and he will probably need more specific lengths than I will. By the time I flatten, weld, and draw out I can use some pretty odd lengths really.

Finally got this project going, I am using the thicker end of these barrels to make slides with, to use on guitar. The thickness, and particularly the hardness of the gun barrel steel makes an excellent sounding piece of pipe to lay across the strings and try to play like Duane Allman or any of the good ol' Southern Rock bands like Skynyrd, Hatchet, and Blackfoot. The gun barrel steel has a different sound than glass, different than brass or stainless, and it gets some overtones that are unique because of how hard the steel is. Pretty neat stuff..

THANKS Hubel458, those old stubs are -just- what the doctor ordered. I would gladly take any others that might be suitable for stuff like this:

Here is the first shotgun barrel slide that I made today:

Somebody else thinks they are awesome as well! Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke tried one that I made in Richmond, VA and LOVED IT! You can see it perched on his mic stand.
