Just curious when Lyman quit stamping the Ideal branding on moulds. I have several this way. If I understand correctly they were bought out around 1930?

The archives are just incredible and so easy to search.

Awesome thread you linked to, Dusty. Can't help but wonder about the history of bhn's mould. Hope he's gotten an answer.

I think if he was able to get any definate answer, he would have followed up. Most of the folks are pretty good about that. There is a lot of knowledge shown in just that single thread. How many posts are in the archives now? What a resource.

It is my understanding that Lyman never stamped them Ideal, they just used up the remaining stock of blocks that were already stamped Ideal.

Thanks Moonie. If that's the case then some of my moulds must be a bit older than I would have guessed.

IIRC, Ideal remained a name and division of Lyman until the late 50"s early 1960's. Floodgate was/is the true expert on this and I seem to recall 62 as the last date for ideal.

Possible but unlikely, they were still selling Ideal marked molds well into the 50's--25 years is a long time to be using up old stock

I'm perfectly fine with my understanding being incorrect. I do have an Ideal marked mold, a 280412

So if a mould has the Conn. Mark does that mean it's an earlier Ideal? I have some just marked Ideal, and some Ideal Hartford Conn.
