I have a Lee group buy single cavity ~30 caliber SP mold w/top punch for which I paid $19.95 + $5 for the top punch to Jay Downs on 1-8-04. What is it? When I got it I stuck it back and forgot about it.

Would that be the HBC boolit, Junior? I think that's about when I got mine.

Yes, sounds like the 30 HBC. 2 crimp grooves, gas check and pointy?

Yep, gas check, two small crimp/lube grooves and pointy. What's the measurements? What is it for? What is it? Why did I buy it?

So you could shoot it 2,800 plus fps with cast bullets and get less than a minute of angle accuracy at 600 yards (like Aladin did)?

So you could shoot it at 1,800 fps using faster rifle powders and stack the nose down to a wadcutter while doing so (like Aladin did with his Veral mold)?

Because you own a Remington 700 30-06 rifle and it would be a perfect fit to your rifle's throat?

Because you truely felt the need for a LEE collet die for your 30-06 so you would get the required "perfect alignment at firing" off your case and neck and bolt face (operating off the lug engagement) and factory cut chamber cavity?

Because if it was wonderfully successful you'd have one?

Hell, why did people "rush it up" to buy into a pellet mold even while we were actively debating that the fat heavy thing would likely tumble end over end unless we shorted the design significantly?

Why did I just buy a loverin 30 caliber mold? I don't generally even like loverin molds ...

Why did I buy yet another 8mm mold even though I STILL don't know the size/tolerancing for the main bands and the nose?

(sounds kinda silly, don't it)

Jr, it was only $21 bucks and you wanted it at the time. You figured somebody would buy it off you for $21 bucks if you wanted to sell it later on.

You are kinda hoping now that somebody chimes up to buy it off you .....

PS

The only mold I "needed" that really worked out 100% was the FAT 30 and I bought the microgroove gun after ordering the mold just so I'd have a use for it. Turns out it was a good thing as the gun and the mold suit each other really really well (best cast shooter I own -- most accurate 150 yard gun I own, period -- jacketed or cast)

It is called "a hobby". It don't got to make sense .....

HBC stands for "High Ballistic Coefficient" if I'm not totally mistaken. I've used HBC top punch for 314299, 311407 and 311466, it gives good alignment, although it marks ogive slightly. I have tp 467, which should be correct for 311466 and 314299, but it's very sloppy side ways, so I use HBC punch.

Ok, that's half of it -- now what are the tolerance specs?

Whatever happened to the theory of keeping a documented entry somewhere for these buys?
Picture, specs date ordered etc etc.
Thought it was originally suggested that there would be a gallery at castpics.
Did this fall through?
Is it located elsewhere?
Thanks

Well, it got started....

I guess I need some hep from y'all to gather the rest of the stuff, so I can get it put out there. I need either the data/pic emailed to me or somewhere that it's already published on the web, so it can be captured. sundog
