I know of a stash of 1-200 pounds of older wheel weights.

Are these going to be appreciably harder than the current weights?

I have an old salvage yard here all cars 75 and older the old boy here let me snake all the ww off of them. when tested they are a little harder than the newer ones not a whole lot I get 1 to 3 points higher on lee hardness tester. they seem to have maybe a little more antimony in them, and yes I carry ww pliers with me everywhere. what can I say maybe I am a junkie..

They will make much better bullets w/o having to add tin. It is a bit more tin they have in them. I also still have 2 five gallon buckets left of that vintage WWs and I use them only for quality COWW/Pb hunting bullets or to make good #2 alloy.

There still can be zinc wheel weights mixed in with them so do inspect them. Phil Sharpe wrote about finding zinc wheel weights shortly after WWII so this is not a new issue.

I agree that the older weights have a different alloy mix. I have also found Zinc weights back in the 80's and 90's. But they were rare back then.

So, now I got to sort them out by age too. That's going to be tough.:killingpc
