Hey there all, I'm a new member here and I got referred to you all for this question. I'm cleaning up a rifle I've recently acquired which is a Remington Model 25 (http://stat.dealtime.com/DealFrame/DealFrame.cmp?bm=271&BEFID=96424&acode=283&code=283&aon=&crawler_id=1930239&dealId=1DvN9DYfwVUCVDRivaeZhQ%3D%3D&searchID=&url=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-57618-1854-0%2F2%3Fkwid%3D1%26mtid%3D570%26crlp%3D1_240251%26 linkin_id%3D%7Blinkin_id%7D%26sortbid%3D%7Bbidamou nt%7D%26fitem%3D151295770180%26mt_id%3D570%26mpre% 3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.com%252Fitm%252Flike %252F151295770180%26mid%3D503280%26sdc_id%3D%7Bsdc _id%7D&DealName=Remington%20Accessories%20Model%20700%20B dl%20Box%20Long%20Action-%2025&MerchantID=503280&HasLink=yes&category=0&AR=-1&NG=1&GR=1&ND=1&PN=1&RR=-1&ST=&MN=msnFeed&FPT=SDCF&NDS=1&NMS=1&NDP=1&MRS=&PD=0&brnId=2455&lnkId=8070676&Issdt=141211050424&IsFtr=0&IsSmart=0&dlprc=45.94&SKU=151295770180) pump action rifle made from 1923-1935. So I suppose I'm looking for some of the old-timers who've had experience with this rifle or others similar to it. I've gotten it mostly disassembled (action out of stock, bolt out) but can't get the magazine tube off of the ?feed mechanism?. Does anyone know how to do this (online manual is no help and there's not much talk of these old, somewhat rare, rifles)?
I've gotten the forearm to slide but can't remove it without removing the magazine tube (http://viglink.pgpartner.com/rd.php?r=16695&m=1621024447&q=n&rdgt=1418304013&it=1418736013&et=1418908813&priceret=75.95&pg=~~3&k=c04c67b9ea494424c0a3cc09040b0ff0&source=feed&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ebrownells%2Ecom%2Fshotgun%2 Dparts%2Freceiver%2Daction%2Dparts%2Fejector%2Dpar ts%2Fejector%2Dextensions%2Fextended%2Dmagazine%2D tube%2D4%2Dround%2Dfits%2Dremington%2D20ga%2D%2Dsk u100008430%2D23357%2D100133%2Easpx%3Fcm%5Fmmc%3Dcs e%2D%5F%2DItwine%2D%5F%2Dpricegrabber%2D%5F%2DExte nded%2520Magazine%2520Tube%26gdftrk%3DgdfV21820%5F a%5F7c187%5Fa%5F7c828%5Fa%5F7c100008430%5Fd%5F1000 02952%5Fd%5F22679&st=feed&mt=~~~~~~~~n~~~). And the mechanism can't slide out the back as a whole because the tube is wider than the hole milled in the receiver for the feed mechanism. I've got a feeling that there's rust preventing it from coming apart but I just can't see if it's supposed to slide apart or if it's threaded in there. This rifle is in rough condition and I'm just trying to get it cleaned up to prevent any more corrosion, but it's a sweet little rifle. Hope someone out there has an idea what I'm talking about.

Thank you for any and all help

I do not own any Model 25 Rems, much to my disappointment. However, I have a few Model 14s and one 14 1/2 -- which prompted me to seek and purchase a copy of Ken Blauch's awesome book, "The Classic Remington 14, Plus Models 14 1/2 and 141; Also the Versatile Model 25." I'd suggest you seek a copy, albeit now out of print. Mr. Blauch is active vis email -- we just communicated a few days ago -- and a SUPER nice person to boot! Lastly, you may wish to check Cornell Publications which may very well have an owner's manual reprint for this fine firearm. (They purvey on eBay) I don't know if Numrich Arms has parts... but worth a check?
I had a Model 8 problem similar to yours, and that was caused by a rear sight screw being a tad too long vis rust on its end -- took an 80+ year old gunsmith but a few minutes to find and fix this rifle! Interesting that, like the 14 1/2s, the Model 25, I believe, used rimmed cartridges -- the .25-20WCF and the 32-20WCF. According to Ken Blauch's fine book, only 31,828 were produced from 1922 through 1937. You truly have a "find", and BEST wishes!

Thank you very much, George. I was beginning to think I might be out of luck. I will definitely take your advice and try to find a copy of Mr. Blauch's book. If I can't obtain one, I suppose I'll email him.
I did find an online copy of the owner's manual but it didn't give complete disassembly instructions and Numrich does have parts for this gun. I'd just hate to break it if someone has the knowledge.
Thank you again for your response, it was much appreciated.

The magazine tube is threaded to the intermediate tube (about three inches long) which is threaded to the operating rod. Both ends of the intermediate tube IIRC have set screws which engage holes in the magazine tube and operating rod respectively. Getting the threads to turn loose could be a problem (just make sure those lock screws are removed), but the ones I've seen have let go with some firm persuasion. These were on some incredibly miss used guns too. I have a couple model 25s - if you have any trouble, or need further help, please feel free to PM me.

Thank you Leftiye. I've got the set screws out as I found them earlier. I'll be working on this this evening. Thank you again for your help.
