I picked up a Hi-Point in 45acp, just got around to loading up some test rounds for it and tried them out on 12/10/2014.
Having never before fired a Hi-Point or any 45acp at all I have nothing to compare this to, to determine if it is behaving as it should.
It fed and fired all 28 rounds fine, ejecting them about 5 feet to the right and 3 - 4 feet behind, but every single piece of brass has a lot of of soot inside (compared to when I use Unique in my 44 mag) and some on the outside, about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way around and 1/2 way down the case, like it is leaking around the brass a bit.
The gun is rated for +P ammo, I am trying to make a load for practice that will fall somewhere around the very top pressure/speed of normal ammo to about the middle range of +P.
It has been hard to find much info on +P 45acp ammo, the load I tried is listed below.
Mixed HS range pickup brass.
230 grain LEE 90286 TL452-230TC seated to an OAL of 1.226 - 1.228 lightly lubed with LLA
5.7 - 5.8 grains of Unique powder, MAX load was listed at 6.0, which the LEE chart said takes the 0.66cc cavity in the Pro Auto-Disk powder measure, my 0.66 cavity with my can of unique threw the 5.7 to 5.8 grain charge so I decided to try that to start with. I will try the next size 0.71 next and see what charge it throws, maybe have to break out my double disk kit for it so I can get 1/2 way in between if need be or the adjustable thing for it.

I don't think I missed anything, just ask if you want to know anything else.
