Any one have a 1911 in 40 s&w How do you like it.
I am think of bilding one [Caspian] with a dot sight on the slide.
What do you think.

They are not to bad, shoot one often. I really like the Witness, factory ported better.

I have the Colt Officers .40. It functions & shoots fine. I hardly ever shoot it as I carry .45s & shoot them mainly. If I'm carrying a 1911 why carry a .40 when a .45 is better.

I have one I had built for USPSA competition. Unfortunately, the "gunsmith" who I commissioned to do the work, farmed out some of it to a newbie in his shop & that guy made some mistakes. Unfortunately it was in how he milled the topstrap for the sights. The "repair" wasn't right & I had to take mine to another gunsmith to correct the rear sight issue. Since I got it back, I haven't had time to run it through the paces yet.
They can be just fine if you load the ammo correctly & have the proper magazines for them.

I like mine. An STI 2011 Eagle. It is stupid accurate. I use it in 3gun competition. I run a mihec 200grn WFN at about 830fps, puts down steel with authority. I wouldn't own one without ramped barrel though.
