Went deer hunting this afternoon. Took my rifle and my Smith 57. I was sitting on the ground next to the fence watching a field to the southwest. Out of the corner of my eye I caught movement to my left. A 3 point, doe and fawn were about 8 yards to my left. Another doe was fourth in line and a little further back. I let the buck, doe and fawn walk on by before I was able to shift position without getting caught. I got into position as the last doe stopped at about 12-15 yards away. Lined up my sights and squeezed the trigger. The doe trotted and ran about 100 yards south before stumbling and falling down. I could tell she was hit well. Shot hit right behind the shoulder where I was aiming but she was quartered a little more toward me than I thought and angled back some getting the liver and front of the paunch. Not a big deal, just needed a little rinse. Complete pass through. The bullet was a MP 413640 with small hollowpoint over a charge of blue dot. Smith 57-1 with a 6" barrel.
Sorry, no pics. It was dark when we got. Loaded up and back to the house.
