Remington is recalling ALL 700 rifles ever built to replace triggers FINALLY. I bet it is costing a pretty penny.

I was just reading this. I already put a timney trigger in mine, but i'm in for a few bucks or some remington swag.

Do you know if this affects the 600's also? I have an xp 100 which is the pistol version of the 600.

No 600's to my knowledge. I think the 721's are included.

Is this different than the x mark pro recall? This is new to me. Nothing wrong with a properly maintained Walker trigger.

THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH THE REMINGTON TRIGGER IS SOMEBODY MESSED WITH IT AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. there NEVER WAS ONE LEFT THE FACTORY THAT WASN'T SAFE. Remington SHOULD HAVE SPOTWELDED THE ADJUSTMENTS. if YOU SEND A GOOD TRIGGER IN, BE PREPARED TO GET ONE BACK YOU CAN HAND THE GUN ON AND IT WON'T GO OFF.

Its only for 2006 and newer triggers -says the website. I had a 700 bdl in .308 I gave my father, it never discharged accidentally, its his favorite rifle.

Flounderman you are wrong. There is documented cases where a untampered Remington 700 trigger failed and caused an accidental discharge. Even the trigger designer, Walker, admitted there was a design flaw that needed to be corrected. Also do you really believe that Remington would spend millions to recall the rifles if they could show the accidental discharges were the result of the customer making adjustments on the trigger.

This is a new recall, nothing to do with the x mark triggers. Yes walker tried to get remington to do a fix before they ever came out. At the time it was going to run in the neighborhood of a nickle a piece to do his upgrade, considerably more now.

I`m wondering if this goes back far enough to include my 722 and 721? Where did you see this notification about the recall?Robert

Any links to the new recall? The other post about this has a link but its to the old recall for the x mark triggers which I have already sent mine in for.

But there is nothing wrong w/ the triggers. It's all been user error :violin:

All the years of fighting it in court. All the people that lost their lives. Imagine if they would have fixed it right away. The trigger is a very good trigger, to good.

Couldn't happen to a better company.

Aint that the truth!
Decimation of a once great company rivaled only by Colt.

Remington Arms Company:
We can screw up anything! Even a time honored tradition of building a proven design is no match for our incompetence.

So what would you do? I have a varmint rifle 700 sps in 204 that has the Walker Trigger That is very good have killed ground hogs and foxes out to 350yrds if I send it back I am probably going to have to put a replacement in trigger to get a decent trigger. So would you just replace the trigger now or go through the trouble of sending it back and see what I get then replace the trigger (probably)?

If I thought the trigger need replacing, I'd get a Timney, shilen, or a jewel. I would not send a walker trigger in for replacement. I'm sure that you could sell the walker trigger to someone who appreciates them and recoup some/most of your money.

I would probably replace it instead of sending it in, but then again, if I owned one it would have already been replaced.

I do like the trigger it breaks clean and crisp but with the recall out there were is the liability if something happens (Just to let you know I have been a hunter safety instructor for 14 yrs and I am really safety conscious ) really I think I will probably replace it I don't feel like dealing with sending it back and I don't have any faith that I will get a good trigger back

Where is this information about a TOTAL recall coming from?

Here is what the recall says:

Remington Arms Company, LLC (“Remington”) is voluntarily recalling Remington Model 700™ and Model Seven™ rifles with X-Mark Pro® (“XMP®”) triggers, manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014.

That is the old recall on the x mark triggers. The new one was in the news yesterday, it was part of the settlement in the class action lawsuit they just settled in the last couple of days.

I have a 721 from 1951, two mid 70's 700's, six from the mid 80's, three XP100R's and four 700ML's. I have also modified some military actions and built some actions from scratch using the Remington-Walker triggers. They all use the trigger in question. Never had an issue with any and none of them are going back.

The only safety induced firing of a rifle I have ever experienced happened last year. I was hunting with a Savage 10 ML muzzleloader in freezing rain. I pushed the safety to fire and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened so tried the safety and firing a second time with the same results. When I went to put the safety back on it fired. It was pointed in a safe direction (ground) but this is a smokeless muzzleloader using 68 grains of IMR 4198 with a 300 grain bullet. Split my thumb nail and took the skin of the knuckle.

On shotguns I have had a 1/2 dozen or more. The Browning Superposed and the SKB clones (had both) would fire when closed after they got dirty. Shooting trap this was every 3,000 to 4,000 rounds. Started cleaning them at 2,000 and never had a problem after that.

Anyone that doesn't want their Remington-Walker triggers can sent them to me and I will put them to good use.
