Nothing out of the ordinary. I had 30 or 40 minutes to kill so I did a little bit of reloading. I load on a LCT, so that's enough time for a box of ammo if I'm going slow, which I was. I was loading 4.9gr Ba9 into mixed brass with 125gr LRN boolits that I powder coated. Half-way through I noticed a case came out of the powder/expander die without any powder! I ran it through again and powder fell the second time - the powder must have been supporting itself like an arch inside the measure. I weighed that and the next few and they were fine so I finished up. Just a reminder to slow down a bit and pay close attention. I actually enjoy reloading about as much as I enjoy shooting, so I'm content to go slow and inspect every case, every boolit before it's seated, to wipe each cartridge down as it comes off the press.

Starting with a full RCBS Pro Melt I cast what looked like about half of the alloy . These were RCBS 22-55-SP Boolits . Let them cool and counted and weighed them, 342 Boolits and 3-1/4 pounds. Next I weighed the sprus, 6-3/4 pounds , total of 10 pounds. Now I know for sure why the pot sems to go down so fast while the pile of Boolits seems to grow so slow.

Ended up casting another 650 plus of these as I was having so much fun.

That is why I put the sprues back in every so often. Keeps the pot fuller longer. Some like to collect them all and add back later. I have found that adding them back in ever 10 or so lets me cast longer B4 refreshing with ingots. I use a hand garden trowel to slide them back in with my hand safely back from the pot.

Unloading some 444 Marlins that apparently may have had one overcharged, but environmental conditions may have been the issue, very hot day may have changed the case parameters, but non the less, they're getting taken down to reload later for safety.
Also got a tester 300BO pill to cast and try, will cast a few and see. Then to finish, casting some 9mm, and a range of 45cal.

Already did some cleaning this morning, which means I gathered miscellaneous brass & bullets and assembled them for plinkin' ammo...

Still to come: cast some 235 grain boolits for the 300 BO... That mold is a little undersize, dropping .298 - .299 on the bore ride... I polished out the cavities to get it close to .301 (hopefully), so it's time to try again... They kinda keyholed as they were...

110 Hornadys shoot mighty fine, but I want to make my own start to finish. I definitely need some moulds for super and sub shooting in the BO. I just figured sub boolits would be a better starting point.

I think you're dead on with the 230g with a gascheck.

I've also wondered if it'd be better to get a BO barrel for one of my piston uppers to lessen leading...or just go with regular gas system.

My first reloads for the 300BO were with I4198 and I4227, liked the 4198 better as the 300BO is a 16", and I'm in Kalifornia, so no suppression... And that's OK, someday I'll be out of the K state...

It was! Gave'em an SS tumble then neck sized, primed, and charged. I'll finish then up tomorrow.
I tried the Lee Mold's for the 480 Ruger, 325gr and the 400gr. Both cast out of WW, not sized and coated in 45/45/10 tumble lube.
Shooting was done at about 300yds
The 325 gave super poor accuracy! Minute of barn!
The 400 was a lot better, on par with the 500's I usually use.

Question for you about soaking in LS and detergent, I'm guessing that you tumble the brass later? If so Do you find soaking makes the actual tumbling faster or?
Just wondering as I've been wet tumbling for a while now and if soaking for a while was beneficial, I'd do it.

Keeping my little Rock tumbler from Hobby Lobby going with a load of approx 70 45ACP brass plus little stainless steel magnetic pins plus 1/ CC of Dawn plus a Lee dipper of Limishine and adding water to cover over everything.. Run time is as little as one hour some times. That is when the brass is not very dirty. Resluts ar e fantastic.
Working up a load for my Ruger Vaquero in 44 mag with 2400 powder and Modified Lee bullet 290 grain Hollow point. Start grains was 14.2 of 2400 powder and worked up 0.2 grains at a time. I have a bullet trap in my back yard and can load a test group, and then shoot them. It is better than having to load several different loads and wait until you can go to the range. My neighbors don't seem to mind as they shoot as well. We live on two to five acre tracts.
The modified bullet comes into existance by turning the Hollow Point form and drilling one hole in the mold.

My aim for this 290 grain HP bullet was to have some penetration and a lot of shock value for hunting pigs. After making the fourth model, I chose a less deep one than shown in the picture. I am trying to get the expansion to be from .600 to .700 diameter. The one that is shown casts a 270 grain bullet and shot into sand the expanded petals open and separate from the main bullet which mushrooms to 0.530 approx. and weighs around 187 grains and who knows where the petals go. We have pigs coming to the soured corn so my plan is to use one of these bullets for a real penetration/shock test. Then it will be time to report the findings here. Any way you look at it I am having fun and being as careful as possible working up the loads. 15.0 grains of 2400 seems to work very well.

100 Lee TL358-158 SWC cast from 2/3/95 lead, twice tumbled in 45/45/10, pushed into some nickel plated 1x fired cases which brings me darn near the end of sized and trimmed 38 special brass.

Sorted head stamps on 8 lbs. of .223 range pickups that have been going through the vibrator in batches the last few days.

Going back down and adjust for doing some 357 magnum with same cast.... or maybe out to the garage, some scrap lead is calling to become ingots or the .430 TL SWC mold that just arrived could get prepped and used. Decisions decisions but it has been a bullet centered day.

Raining so not doing yard work :-) am going to finish assembly of metal chairs and small table DW picked up for porch. Man I remember when metal furniture was purchased already assembled, miss that. Nothing encourages precision fit and parts alignment like have the assembly guy walk across the plant and tell you he is going upside your head if you don't start making the parts right. I don't have time (or language skills) to go all the way to China to "discuss" these parts with the idiot that bent the bracing tabs so the screw holes don't line up.

One more reason to like casting and reloading, I make the parts and do the assembly, what do you know these American made parts fit. Or by golly I take them apart and make them right.

Need to let the brass dry first before tumbling so that will happen tomorrow. Lemi Shine and soap does clean all the lose powder out of the case but tumbling puts the shine on them and they get tumbled for about 6 hours.

Spent a bunch of time trying to put PBGCs on my new NOE .432 265FN PB. They would not hold together. Would rip apart. Ended up trying some 45PB checks & could get about 80% to crimp correctly.

Loaded 5 up with 23gr H110 to test fire & cycle test in Rossi 92. All worked fine.

Then, loaded up 50rds between H110, 4227, Unique to shoot tomorrow.

Then finished sizing .432s putting GCs on about half.

Then sized & GCd new .501 385gr NOE. Actually both were new molds & the .501 with only 1 heating on the hot plate & smoking, dropped 3 out of the first 4 perfect. The .432 took a little more work.

Now I get to prep the new MP .501 400solid, 385 HP, I just received. Will try to cast after shooting tomorrow. Since it's going to be record breaking heat tomorrow I'll be shooting early so will have time to cast.

Went out into the garage and deprimed and sized some 30-30. Just going into the garage in June is a giant step forward. My son and I blew in 16" of insulation in the attic and insulated the walls this spring. It is almost bearable. I need to get the portable ac unit hooked up and the doors insulated so I can work year round. I have a small reload area in the house, but casting and depriming remains out in the garage. Without the insulation when the Texas sun came out I would be completely soaked in about 5-10 minutes.

I was trying a couple of .300 AAC round in my garage last night. Trying to get a load that will cycle a 147 gr M80 projectile in a .300 AAC AR handgun. Haven't had much luck so far. I'm using IMR 4227 and have gone from 16.0 to 17.2 gr. I'm doing this throughout the night inside the city, so I'm wanting the noise not to be notice. So, I turn on my shop vac to give a bit of background noise and then try a shot. When it doesn't work, I spend a few minutes vacuuming up some of sawdust that is starting to cover my floor. My table saw is a fairly old model (cast iron bed) and I don't think it has provision for a dust collector, even if I had thought to hook one up when I last used it.

Then I go back inside, drink another beer, load another round, clean up some of the mess I made from converting .223 brass to .300 AAC brass the other day and then go back out to the garage and do it again. Apparently no one noticed (or at least didn't care about) the sound. Maybe they just thought it was thunder from Tropical Storm Bill that was headed our way?

It's a very informative paperback, which has some pretty good loads published...for sub or super in varying weight bullets.

For some reason, I have yet to get a load to cycle the action on the .300 AAC AR that I built. I tried a few different loads last night during the storm. This build has the full auto BCG in it, so I wasn't sure if there was something about it that might have made a difference, so I put a .223 pistol upper on it and fired it in my garage last night. It cycled the action just like it was supposed to do. I put a tube on the gas tube and blew through it to ensure the gas tube was not clogged up. It seemed ok. Cast some bullets from the Lee C309-113-F mold that I had recently got and tried them. They are a bit short and with the flat nose, they would not even load into the chamber from the magazine. So, I just manually loaded the first one and put the M80 projectile round in the magazine so that I would know if it picked up the next round. No luck -- still would not eject the brass.

So, drink beer, clean up place, load a round, go shoot it in the garage. Repeat until daybreak, grab something to eat, a shower, and go to bed. Yeah, my waking hours are totally screwed up lately. One of the advantages of being retired -- time has no meaning for me anymore. :)

Wired a new outlet one with a switch and female combination for my mec 9000h. This way I do not have to unplug the pump. The box also has an additional female outlet wired with power.
No more crawling under the bench to power up or fighting cords.

Installed a new ceramic lightnfixture with female out let..and pull string switch.

Installed 4 100w flourcent bulbs thatbuse 23w of juice and they are a whole lot cooler than the old bulbs.

Granddaughter counted up 1678 160gr 357 hp Boolits for me. 3 Boxes of 500 each. we set the others, 178 aside to size and lube.

Installed a new thermostat up stairs. Yea I waited till it was 95 out. LOL

Mounted a 32" ceiling fan in my loading building to help the A/C take the edge off our 110+F temps. (Humidity it 5% for all you swamp guys!)

With all the insulation I put in I can keep the shop at <77F after about 30 minutes of cool-down. The ceiling fan is to circulate the air better. We have ceiling fans in EVERY SINGLE ROOM in the house! The one in the vaulted ceiling living room runs 24/7/365.

Ceiling fans are "cool".

Sorted through a bunch of goodies that I found at the local hardware / gun shop yesterday in the back of the shelves and cupboards, 2 lbs of RX 7, 2 lbs of True blue, lb of WSF, rsbs bullet puller, paper bags with a missmash of fired 6.5 x 55 , 308 and 303 brass, part boxes of bullets that are as old as the hills and primers that were priced circa 1990 prices (cheap). He was happy to clear out of odds and ends that isn't fit for the shelves and i was happy to buy cheap.

I finally got my reloading room finished, except for the a/c, and I was happily decapping some olddddd 30-06 brass and my decapping pin broke.....no problem....just get one of my spare pins....looked high....looked low....no pins.....so I go to Ebay to get some replacement....the only problem is there are a hugh variety of pins....so I go to RCBS and find out that I have the olddddd style sizer/decapper setup so all I need is small decapping pins....so I followed my father's advice....if one is good, two is better, and in my case 50 are best....so I ordered them so that I can misplace the other 49 pins....kind of like the "Trip to Home Depot"......thus ends the rant!

The 440gr .501" is one of Lee's new design moulds. I think it suffers from lack of bulk. There is just not enough material to keep it stable temperature wise. The large cavities overheat it quickly.

The return on the labor and time invested is less with range scrap than WW's but, for me anyway, its a more or less a draw because I have to buy the WW' from a tires store 22 miles away and the range I shoot at is only 6 miles from the house. My only complaint with range scrap is it's softer than WW's.

Not to be simplistic, but are you 100% certain that the gas tube/block are aligned right? I know you said you blew through the tube and it seemed ok, but let me share my recent experiences. I built an AR. I'm pretty anal about things, so I was super careful to make sure that everything was just so. I finished it and took it to the range and experienced exactly what you experienced: it wouldn't eject the brass. I tore the whole thing apart repeatedly over the next few weeks, pulling my hair out trying to find the solution. I changed the gas block for a very expensive one out of desperation, which is not an easy proposition in MA, since our muzzle devices have to be pinned and welded, meaning the old muzzle brake had to be ground off, the gas block changed and a new one pinned and welded on. Anyhow, after all that, what I discovered was this: when the handguard was put on it was putting enough force on the gas block to shift it away from the gas port in the barrel. I took the handguard off and threw it in the trash, replaced it with a free float handguard and the AR runs 100% now.

I've had some time to experiment with it since I last posted on this thread about it. The gas block is a picatinny 4-rail type and it butts up against the free float handguard when everything is installed. It looked like the gas block might not be sliding all the way back, so I decided to try it without the handguard to see what might happen. As it turned out, that made the difference. There's probably about 1/16-1/8" that needs to be taken off the front of the handguard. The load I was previously trying now ejects the brass and picks up the next round, although it doesn't hold the bolt back on an empty mag, so it probably just needs a bit more powder. It's not that big of a deal for me since I don't routinely carry multiple mags with me anyway.

I was developing a load for my nephew and his .300 AAC last weekend and had a round come out the side of the barrel that is used for a bullet stop with deceleration media. We looked at the wall behind it and could not see where it had hit. I was cleaning the garage on Thursday and came across one of the jacketed bullets that he was using. It had rifling marks on it, so it must have been the one that ended up going through the side of the barrel. I'm thinking that the bullet hit someone along the way (possibly another bullet) which upset it's flight path enough to make it go out the side of the barrel while tumbling and then hit the back wall sideways, but so slowly that it did not put a dent in the wall. It then made it 12 ft or so before coming to a stop. There's a 1/2" steel plate in the bottom of the barrel and there were no marks on the bullet that would indicate that it hit the plate before coming back out.

I spent the weekend celebrating American Independence my way...... away from the crowds in my fortress of solitude - the gun cave. Loaded up some ought-6 mouse fart loads but spent most of the time casting. I got that mold from a member here not to long ago and I've been itching to see how they perform in the M1 Carbine. I've read some consider it the "Holy Grail" for the Carbine but we'll see.

The fact that I have more swaged SWC's for the 38 than I'll ever use may have had something to do with it, lol. Someday I'll load and shoot the 38 again, may even live long enough to cast for it, lol.

Yesterday I tumble lubed some 120gr. Lee TCs and some 150 SWC Lees and also trimmed 100 pcs of .308 brass followed by chamfer and de-burr and primer pocket reaming. I got them from the PIF section here. They are now in the tumbler ready for the second cycle. Plan to start working up some loads for the FR8 for my 9YO son.

Getting a bunch done as I'm on a stay-cation this whole week. This morning and yesterday morning got the coffee maker and the new ProMelt fired up at 6 am (my old SAECO 47 won't keep a consistent temp, got frustrated and retired it) and alternated my SAECO .452 185 and RCBS 9mm 124 CN to the tune of about 1200 each before the rest of the house even woke up! Spent a bit this evening loading up some .45acp with ladder loads of 700x from 4.5 to 5.2 to see how clean it is compared to WST. The 700x meters so randomly in the Dillons that it needs a big case like a 45acp or colt to make me feel comfortable loading bulk batches. I have many pounds of it to use up so I am experimenting. 5.8 in the 45 Colt is nice and 3.2 for steel in my .38s burns cleaner than Bullseye. Gave up on it in 9mm though.

I cleaned some 45-70 brass in vinegar/water solution in a ultrasonic cleaner. Before that I drilled the holes under primer some what bigger, to give better ignition from magnum primers to my fast but not full powder charge. Then I inserted new primers to the brass. Tomorrow I'll do some filling the brass with Lapua N120 powder and cap the cartridges with some boolits.

I finished heat cycling four NOE molds this morning. Yes, I have a problem. There are still three more in the safe that need to be prepped for first use. So this afternoon I disassembled and lubed them up. Printed out labels for the mold storage boxes, top punch storage boxes and cast bullet example storage boxes. Was going to print one out for the dummy round box but I don't know when I will get around to casting some let alone loading any. I may have a hangup w/ organization :)

I wheeled it into the shop for now. I have to convert it to single phase. It was free so if I can't convert it I will sell it on Craigslist. Plan on making as many tools as possible pneumatically driven. It only ever ran on one pump because it supplied air for the pneumatic HVAC controls in an office building which is very low pressure. So half of it is practically new. Thankfully a forklift and truck w/ a lift gate are at my disposal :)

Around here, the problem is fire ants and I start out with a propane torch. That cuts down their numbers and gives a bit of satisfaction as you hear their bodies making that light crackle sound when they are torched. Eventually, the stream of newcomers decreases or you just get tired of BBQing them though. I then spray a bit of the home insecticide around the area and if I can find where they are coming from outside, various poisons around there also. The poisons work, but they just don't have the same visual and auditory satisfaction as BBQing them.

You don't need to turn the torch on high. A lot of people do that and just waste fuel. A low flame that you just move around a lot works good and you are less likely to burn whatever is underneath it.

Amdro.... The key to success is apply when all the ants are underground. Usually at night.

The ones around here seem to have learned that smaller mounds give them a greater chance of survival. If the mound sticks up past the level of the grass, I'm likely to notice it and thus will take the time to exterminate them. If I don't notice them, they're safe. Of course, that also means I don't end up noticing them until I step in them while wearing flops. :( Fire ants and mosquitoes are two species that if they were wiped off the face of the planet, I would not have a problem with it. If any other species needs them as a means of subsistence, they can either adapt or die off -- acceptable collateral damages as far as I'm concerned.

I loaded up around 500 45colt in the last couple days...inbetween other chores. Some of the boolits were a group of Lyman 452-460 (210gr SWC) that I cast in the fall of 2012 with COWW(according to my notes) and the alignment pins weren't seating properly...most of them were basically 'beagled' where the wide dimension was .457 So I sized them to .454

Yesterday, just out of curiosity, I tested a couple of them for hardness, I was surprised when they measured BHN of 16 ? I'm sure they'll shoot fine in the BH, with the 8.9 gr of Unique I put under them.

That looks like one I helped my Boss install (twice) at a Electronic PCB manufacturer that I use to work at (same color and same size tank anyway).

The first time we installed it, it was in the corner of the PCB assembly shop. It had a large twin cylinder air compressor with a 10 HP 3 ph. 240VAC motor. When that thing was running, it sounded like a Helicopter was hoovering just outside the building. All the shop employees complained...a month later, it was re-installed in the warehouse, in it's own sound insulated room...and it was still Loud and vibrated the walls, but the shop employees could then hear each other again :)

It's not loud at all. Well it wasn't when it was installed in the office building. The motors are only 1/2hp 3 phase. I shouldn't have any trouble switching it over to single phase. Just need to do some math. It's definitely a project. First thing is to clean it up so I can touch it w/out getting extremely dirty. I also have to reattach the casters to the platform it's on. Two of them ripped out while trying to wheel it into my garage. That's what I get for using what was on hand instead of buying the right parts. I didn't look that close when I posted my first reply...Yes, I now see the motor is fairly small. The motor and air compressor on the one my employer had was huge...but the tank was about the same size, judging by your forklift.

I completely understand. They usually have large motors on them. I thought I was going to have to build a rotary phase converter to run it. I don't need a lot of volume quickly. So a slow pumper should work just fine. Highest draw will probably be an impact gun for taking the tires off my vehicles.

Kind of amusing that the only tool that's already equipped for air is a Star sizer. That massive tank to simply keep pressure on the lube reservoir

I did not do too much today! just fooled with new dummy shells for my 308W. There seemed to be a difference between my chamber cast and where this boolit actually contacts the rifling. The chamber cast suggested contact should be at 2.610 and the boolit won't allow the bolt to close until the OAL is 2.545. I was loading them further into the case and not happy with the accuracy.

Don't usually keep up with this but I'm plum tired of prepping brass. I have shot most all the prepped mag brass I had (which is a LOT) so have been for 3 or 4 wks getting ready for more shooting & matches. Have been sizing, trimming then anealing & belt sizing a couple hundred ea of 300, 338, 375, 458, Lott, 450. Still have to BS & anneal the Lott & 450s. Then I have to start on on the 223, 264, 308, 300wsm & 300 wm match/BR brass although I do have a reasonable supply left of them but need to get more. Most of them, except the auto stuff, is neck sized only unless need to bump the shoulder, so annealing is the big chore. I really hate trimming even though I have a Gracey trimmer.

The air kit keeps constant pressure on the lube, and replaces the crank handle assembly which you would have to turn every so many boolits.

You'd have to not be in the room for that to happen. An there is no reason you should leave the room w/ the reservoir under pressure. But then again people turn on their lead pots to melt it and then walk out of the room. I don't get some people.

I finally got around to organizing and putting away brass. Found out I had apparently ordered 35 Remington brass from Grumpa before. So now I have 200 pieces from him. Apparently I bought 100 new pieces from someone at some point because I found a bag of them. Forgot I had bought some short 444 Marlin brass to convert to 356 Winchester. All of my brass is finally organized in an orderly fashion except for the 300BO brass that I still have to trim.

What I did yesterday? Spent who knows how long, along with the driver, sifting through every parcel on the FedEx truck looking for all 7 of my 'hardball' ingots from RotoMetals. The invoice had a red ink stamp 'Handpacked by Greg.' I think he could use some instruction on how to secure 35# of lead alloy. All the ingots were in the middle of the carton with wadded paper on each end. Yet where the filament tape was needed, in the middle, there was none; only the ends were taped. The driver handed me the busted box and asked if I wanted to accept it. Well, I thought, what do I care about the box as long as my goods showed up, as it's pretty hard to damage lead alloy ingots.

There were only 3 still in the box. I showed him the invoice which stated 7 ingots. I handed everything back to him and said I won't accept it, send it back. Unless you think there's the possibility the rest are somewhere on this truck? It took awhile but we finally found them. By that time of day it was too late to melt them into boolits.

But the good news is the contents could have been spread all along the Cleveland to Newark to eastern PA routing. I'm anxious to try them if only the weather would cooperate. Temps in the 90's and dewpoints in the low 70's is no boolit casting weather for me. It's supposed to get lots cooler the first week of August. I guess I can hold out that long.

BTW, they're intended for 7.62x25 Tok in my PPS43C pistol where speeds of 1800fps are normal. I should yield ~2400 boolits.

I like reloading & experimenting with loads etc. but I really HATE prepping brass!

Still belt sizing mags. Did couple hundred 300Wby today & turned the necks on 100, 300 Winmag for BR gun after sizing, trimming & annealing yesterday.

In the past month have BS around 1k mag brass, turned 400 necks, sized, trimmed several k & havn't even started on the 300 WSM brass for 2 BR guns, or 308s, 6.5s, 223s for Fclass/tactical guns. (luckily still have a good amount of 308s, 223s ready to go).

Still way to hot to shoot (wimped out on a tactical shoot today) or cast, so stuck in shop doing this dam grunt work.

Loaded some 9mm test samples with N320, Tightgroup, Vectan A0 and some with WSF. Went out and did a little shooting, helped my friend sight in an AR and we discussed further the reloading gear and components we want in edition to roughing out some shooting tables and got the Bobcat out to start digging berms for our new private shootin range!

I have been using a 550, it's great, and RCII but dislike constantly changing and adjusting the dies on the single-stage. I thought a turret might be a good replacement (compromise) for the single-stage. After a little shopping I realized that the Lee Classic Turret is cheap and I can easily change turrets. So far I think it's going to work out great.

I cleaned aroung my reloading place... I had accumulated a **** load of papers and stuff... I found several lottery and alike tickets... went to store with them and got around 100$ worth of winnings I had forgotten. Naturally I rewarded me with some cans of alcohol beverage.... and put the sauna warming... :)

And I got my two Mountain Molds molds delivered today. I made sure that there is no burrs around critical places, cleaned them from oil etc and placed them in a oven for couple of hours. Don't really know if it is necessary, but from some post here, I read that ovening molds allows them to oxidize faster and that might help with releasing the boolits. Dont know if that is true, but it kind of makes sense. And its not really so much work to do so to new blocks... Soon, I'll cast boolits from my 2 new molds. :)

The Company Books. The business computer is 6 feet from the reloading bench. The 2nd Quarter had to be closed and taxes paid, excuse my french.

Thought I'd check in before moving to the bench. Got a bunch of the new NOE #503 clones for the 44 ready to load. I tested them in Phoenix last month. The lube groove is smaller than the MP version but there was still plenty for a 6" barrel. Going to try to shoot some more this weekend in "normal" temperatures and do side by side tests with the MP #503.

Poured around 8 pounds of 45LC out of a Lee 6 cavity. Now I can shoot my H&R Classic carbine.

Went to a garage sale yesterday. The old boy died 2 yrs back. He was a gun dealer but his wife sold off all his plunder in the first few weeks. I did snag a camp grill,5 or so pounds of WW and a few battery terminals, lumber, a Rubbermaid small tote with a handful of fishing hooks.
I'll go back she is only 3 doors down from us.
He also ran a auto repair shop for VW's and such. A mr fixit so to say. Also had about 8 5 gal pails of emergency essentials from 2011.

I passed about 50 yard sales yesterday.
Friday I spent about an hour pouring 225-55 FP in a NOE, what a joy at long last we're speaking the same language, my best count is 42 pours . In a perfect world that would 210 perfect little 62 gr poppers ......... I packed up about 180 suitable for 5 min or less groups ,good enough for this 1 since it only shoots 3 min with cheap fmj PMC. Took the 5 MOA RGB BSA off and put and ooollllddd T post Weaver 4K on it and bore sighted it across the living room and down the hall. I don't know what that was on last but 8" down and 12 right seems like a long ways with a scope 2.5 above the bore just to get the laser dot behind the post top .

I cast up about 3000 bullets, .452 200Gr,RNFP, using 2 identical Lee 6 cav molds. These are for the CAS game and the steel cowboys we shoot at aren't fussy if there might be a wrinkle or 2 in the slug so I didn't have to be picky. I cast till I ran out of 1Lb ingots. Now I have to smelt down some of the 80 Lb blocks to more manageable sizes.

Processed 60+ 7rm cases have another 100 or so to go. Won't be long now and friends and family will want to come work up loads, sight in and take some practice shots before deer season. Like to have plenty 7rm, 270 & 308 on hand for the next few months. The 7rm is the only finicky loading.

308's and 270 recipes won't change this year. The 7's will go from 175gr cor-lokts to 160gr PT's and every rifle seems to have a different sweetspot and we load for 5 this year. But the work ups where all the fun is!

Re-cleaned 30pounds of 9mm which I discovered in an ammo-can which I had apparently tumbled in corn cob media after de-priming.

Well cleaning with primer in means you do not have to pick tumbling media from the cases.

true... providing the media gets stuck in the primer pocket side of the flash hole. if it gets stuck in the inside the case side, you could bend or break the decapping stem. I deprime first, then clean/polish.... just my way.

Why do reloaders clean and polish brass before depriming?

Because I do everything on press in one pass and I'm not going to insert dirty brass into my dies. A vibratory cleaner does little when it comes to cleaning the pockets so it's a moot point.

I punched out a bunch of checks while the gas company was setting a new meter at my house. Had to redo a bunch of the new piping they installed in the house due to leaks and a poor quality install. I love union work.

Broke down 80 223 rounds. Loaded them, and had neglected to trim the once-fired (Fiocchi) cases - and they wouldn't chamber! My 223 is a 788 that was originally a .222 - when the 788 first came out, they weren't chambered in 223, so I had the LGS where I bought it rechamber in .223. No big drama, and never had any problem before. These cases measure 1.769, and trim-to length is 1.760, and they wouldn't chamber, so it meant breaking them down, and as I don't want to de-prime, I have to buy an RCBS file-trim die. It will be ordered today...
I had loaded 20 each of 4 different condom bullets, Speer, Sierra, Nosler, and surplus fmj's, to get an idea which were going to shoot best. So it was hammer away.

If you use a Lyman or Lee pin stop trimmer type the primer needs to be removed as the length stop bottoms on the shell holders. It looks like a Lee decaping pin with a cutter attached .

Some brass trimmers index off the flash hole by way of a pin / mandrel that goes inside the case. I use a Wilson trimmer which basically indexes off the base of the case.

so, sometimes I lead a strange life. Today I had to make some dummies for a bandoleer for a "movie production" in a couple of weeks. I took some junk 45-70s that had been used for blackpowder blanks about ten years ago, cleaned them up a little, annealed the devil out of them, and then stretched the mouth so I could insert some old 405g lead, set them in the factory crimp die, and now have about 100 just for show, and I got off on the cheep.. I think us used about 3 dollars in hand cleaner after it was all said and done tho.

I went to the range today and dirtied up my Colt 38special revolver and my Dan Wesson 357.

38's are so cheap and easy to reload so there is less regret than shooting up any 22LR...

but going to the range did let me pick up brass... yesterday I collected ~100 45ACP, 50 .40S&W, 50 9mm, 60 223rem
and 120 308WIN (60each PMC and Federal) t

Today I got 48 "imperial" head stamped 308Win cases and another 50 Winchester stamped 45ACP...
and twenty odd FC head-stamped 9mm cases

Right now what I really need is the money to buy a 35cal check maker, so I can shoot more #358156 GC-SWC bullets
Today I was shooting #358212 Non-GC RN, though casting those is a bit tedious because my mould is a single cavity.

It just tears me up to make the L-O-N-G trip (ALL OF 250yards) to the range....

There is literally one house between mine and the rifle range and about that YES, I'm gloating:)

yes, the road I live on is called "Gun Club Road" for a damned good reason....
