I've got a new 250 gr LBT LFN-GC for my Pre 64 M70 in 9.3x62. Anyone got any good load data for it?

Hodgdon Powder H4895
Bullet Diameter .366"
C.O.L. 3.200"
Starting Load
Grains 51.0
Velocity (ft/s) 2,221
Pressure 37,000 CUP
Maximum Load
Grains 57.0C
Velocity (ft/s) 2,484
Pressure 48,700 CUP
I have seen a few including me looking for cast boolit load data for the 9.3x62mm Mauser and no one has come up with any published data for it. I have had to use the H4895 -60% rule loading it at 70% of max load is giving me very good results,

I don't have one but, I would use 35 Whelen starting load data. They're very close to the same case capacity, the 9.3x62 having just slightly larger capacity. Bullet diameters/weights are also very close. I would expect similar cast boolit results.

BTW, I'd just have to play with a cast 9x18 Makarov boollit for fun shooting.

Greetings
I would also suggest looking at 375 Whelen Improved load data as again very similar case capacity and bullets near the same diameter. You will find more data for the improved case than a regular 375 Whelen which I shoot when up north there.

I shot a few today.

From a 24" #3 PacNor barrel, my 9.3x62 hit 2349 fps with zero leading but horrible accuracy (19 MOA) using 61 gr IMR 4350 fps. 58 gr of IMR 4350 gave 2226 fps and 2.75 MOA.

With Varget my fastest was 2249 fps with 53 gr; 7 MOA. Best was 48 gr giving 1922 fps and 1.25 MOA.

Good groups! Are you trying for more velocity? I couldn't get decent accuracy past about 1800-1900 FPS with my 35 Whelen without heat treating them.

For hunting, I plan to stand them up in a pan of water with the noses exposed. Then reheat and allow them to cool slowly to de-temper just the noses back to the alloy's original BHN for increased expansion.

I do want more velocity for hunting. This combination with be for daily carry/plinking along with hunting/stopping a charging Grizzly when I move back up to Alaska. I want the load to be functional to 300 yds for Grizzly and Moose.

The bullets in this test were about 15 BHN (tested with the LBT hardness tester), air-cooled WW with about 1% tin added. The next batch will be water quenched. I cast them yesterday. Once they set up throughout this week, I'll load and shoot them this Saturday with some of the same powder charges.

After two days, the air cooled are up to 14.5-15 BHN and the water quenched are up to (wow!) 30-32 BHN. A little muscle building is in order to size those bad boys!

I waited 4 days once and broke my table while sizing them. I got one stuck in the die. I had to add a length of pipe to the handle for leverage.

Now, I size boolits dry prior to HT'ing and run them through the sizer die to lube after. Some like to use a sizer die .001" larger to lube after, I haven't found the need. If for some reason I don't size them first, I size and lube right after the boolits are cooled down from the HT.

Don't have any load data for the 9.3, but this has sure made me take another look at a 20" bbl. full stock cz with iron sights included. What a sweet hunting rig in a nice caliber. Good luck with yours!!
