Well it wasn't a cast bullet , but was a reload. My oldest girl used her .223 youth model handi-rifle , don't quite remember the load I know it was a Hornady bullet over a charge of 3031. Three times she has fired that rifle in the woods and three times a deer has fallen, I'm pretty sure she's a better hunter than I am. She hit them all good but I got tired of bloodtrailing so I let her try out an SKS for a lil more punch.

Congratulations dad mom and daughter.
3 shots and 3 deer is outstanding and something she will remember the rest of her life.
Next step is a life membership in the NRA as a Christmas present.

1911Cherry: When my son was small I also tried the SKS. The open sights were an issue for him. I would offer a suggestion. Since you already have the Handi-rifle, you might look around and find a 30-30 barrel for it. since you are a reloader, you can load it down with the 130 gr bullets or better yet go with cast boolits. I killed a pretty good buck this year with the LEE 170 gr boolit at 1900 fps. the loaded down 30-30 handi will pretty much duplicate the SKS ballistics and is probably safer (and easier to operate) for a youngster than a semiauto. Great pictures! If you go this way, let me know and I'll send you some boolits to try.

She'll grow into a woman who doesn't support gun control,
values hunting, and can put meat in the freezer. Good!

Thanks for all the encouragement fellas, it means a lot me and her. She does know how to make her daddy proud, today at the gun show I had to make a trade for her new deer rifle. Se brought home a 91-59 mosin carbine - that's my girl. I think I will load her some cast for it tonight.

Thanks for sharing, made my day. My daughter has yet to connect, been a real.slow year. You sir are doing a good job teaching her hunting and responsibility!! And her marksmanship is outstanding, center mass hits with a .22 cal trump a miss with a .50 cal every time. Merry Christmas to you and yours from me and mine!
