On Sunday my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Ally Rae weighing in at 6 lbs 15 oz.
The most amazing part of this story is how Ally came into this world.....
Shortly after arriving to work my wife called me to tell me she was in labor. I notified my boss to let him know I needed to leave. While waiting for relief to come in I get another call, this one much more urgent. So I hussle out of the plant and try to get home as fast as possible.
Now we live 20 miles from the nearest hospital and 80 miles from where the delivery was supposed to take place.
As I am pulling up our street towards the house my father called me to let me know they were taking my wife to the hospital as I passed them on our street. My wife has always had babies very quickly so I run in the house and grab towels and ribbon to tie the cord in case of a roadside delivery.
Hopping on the interstate I push my little jeep as fast as it will go about 90 or so trying to catch up with my parents vehicle. About 10 miles down the road I spot my mama's truck pulled off to the side of the highway. I immediately pull over expecting my wife to be in delivery. My mother however; jumped back in the drivers seat and away the truck flew.
Apparently my wife had delivered her own baby in the passenger seat of the pickup while they were still rolling down the interstate at 85 mph.
All was well with both mama and baby and thank God there were no unforseen complications.
My wife is a very strong woman and my hero for doing what she did. I now know that she is far tougher than me and could whip me hands down.
Thanks for letting me share my excitement.
