I went to the local flea mart today. Fortunately I had some extra cash on hand. I saw a hand written sign on the back of a truck that simply said "powder". I went over and looked in the box and saw two new bottles of Unique powder. For $28. per bottle they both came home with me, along with a bottle of 4895 for the same price. This was the first Unique powder that I had seen for sale for over a year so I didn't much care how much it would cost, I was going to buy it.

Heck, that's cheaper than my LGS on powder. They have most stuff in stock again, but it's $30-32 + tax per bottle.

It depends on your area. Powder has been $25-$35 a pound here for close to ten years. When Powder Valley was selling CCI primers for $20 they were $30 here. Prices have actually stayed consistent through this last shortage.

Great find.

I was ecstatic when the LGS called me the other day and said they had powder in. Told me they 4-8# kegs of W231 that was only being sold to those they "know." Price was acceptable and I was down to my last 100 or so grains of the stuff. There are three other happy folks in my area too!

Powder was 17-19/lb here before things went nuts. Now it depends on the shop. One place that is around 80 miles from here always has powder is 19-24 for Alliant and 24-27 for Hodgdon/IMR. Local all powder is 32-36. It cost me about 12$ to run out to the other shop. I usually take 2 other people with me when we go. They pay for the gas, so it does not cost me anything.

So the shops are the ones that are raising the prices.

Forgot to mention. The seller gave me his home phone number and said, when I get some more cash to call him.
You can bet I will.

Great find, been unquieless for going on two years! Afraid to open that last one pounder I have, been looking hard last two months, not even at an absorbent price have I found it, been a day late on me once or twice but have been able to purchase 0.

unique is 19.99 a pound at the sportsmans warehouse today, I looked at 4 of them for about 2 seconds then grabbed 2 pounds of red-dot [after making sure they didn't have an 8 pounder] and a pound of superformance.

still no RL-19 or 2400 in sight.

Interesting how one powder is non-existant in one are and available in another. I'm just glad to see it on the shelf again, even tho my shelves were never empty. Unique IS a nice score though, haven't seen it or much of any pistol powder in quite awhile.

Am I a bad man,I haven't even opened the 8# I bought 5 yr ago because I'm still trying to use up the 12# keg my Dad gave me about 12 yr ago and the Red Dot from my grandfather. The 8# then was 116 at Sheels and the 8# 4350 was about 170 ,I just replaced the 4350 on a road trip it was 186 last spring 203 after taxes and all.

The gunshow here in Phoenix has powder and primer. There were a few pistol powders and the rest rifle including SR4759. I bought a thousand CCI LR primers for $23.
Did score a nice sporterized 1891 Arg. Mauser for $80 with 50 rounds of surplus ammo in a plastic box. Also bought a 10" Contender 357 mag barrel with forend for $145.00 in great shape.

Prices haven't changed that much retail.

Fall of 2012 (pre Newtown) I paid $116.95 for as many eight pounders of Unique as I wanted.

Today Gamaliel Shooting Supply has it for $124.95. Out of stock but that's the price.

$8 in 3 years ain't much. It's the supply that sucks.

Saw my first 1lb bottle of Unique for sale in over two years yesterday at the Kalispell Gun show. It's still there if someone is looking, $41.00 for a pound is just too steep to pay.
