I recently bought a nice old Ideal mold for 358 double ended wadcutter from a fellow forum member. The old Lyman book calls for a #344 top punch.

No such beastie in the catalog these days.

I suspect it's just a flat ended punch considering the way this looks like it will cast.

So if any of you have a #344 and could either post a photo of the business end or verify it's just flat I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

You can also take a boolit and put it in your sizer. Lube the nose with a lght oil. Now take your flat top punch mounted in the sizer machine and add some JB Weld or similar liquid metal to it. Lower it to your boolit and let it custom form. Allow it to dry while in contact with the boolit. You now have a form fitting top punch.

Nice move of giving us an idea through the picture. It will surely make us clarified on what kind of thing it is.
