Made my weekly trip by the Ft Worth Library tonight, was pleasantly surprised to see three cases full of vintage leverguns. Saw better than a dozen Winchester 92's, a handful of Winchester 94's and 6-8 each Marlin 93's and 94's. Even a few 1873's and 1886's. Most were 60-70% guns, some a bit worse. Nothing remarkable, pretty sure they bought a big collection and these are the ones that were left after being picked over. Can't say about the prices, most Marlins were $1200 and up, the Winchesters $1500 up to about $4000. I'm pretty much broke right now and I felt they were a bit optimistic on their prices so I didn't bother to fondle any, but I did enjoy the view. :bigsmyl2:
Don't see many 93's sitting on the rack these days, generally don't see any. I probably should have fondled a 93 or two just for the sake of familiarization but the librarians were tired, they worked some pretty long hours this weekend.

Ar you saying that the Fort Worth Library is selling guns to the public?

I try not to plug my favorite big box sporting goods store any more than necessary, folks might think I'm getting paid for it, lol. I did help my old buddy sell a rifle tonight. ;-) We were talking about and handling the various AR's and a guy beside me was listening very closely. I handed him a rifle or two after I'd fondled them. He apologized for interrupting, he didn't realize we had teamed up on him, lol. He went home with a nice DPMS "survival kit".

LMAO In Texas you just check out rifles when you get the urge, didn't cha know that.
I don't need to go there, as for some reason those 67, 70% rifles as long as it is just from use, tugs at my purse strings more than 100% ones.

These rifles show signs of decades of honest use, only a few had signs of abuse. About half had buggered screws but since I've buggered a few I know how to fix them. I'll be hunting at the other end of this great state next weekend but I'll make a point to fondle an old Marlin at the Library the following weekend.

I got the "candy bug" today at my dealer and walked out with a nice '94 in 32/40 made in 1912.

He also had a rather nice original '92 half mag in 38/40 made in 1893 for the princley sum of $AU550; so many rifles and not enough money:veryconfu

Depending on where you hang your hat it will look a lot like a drivers' license or an FFL.

Wow, BAW, I think I'd bust the piggy bank for a 92 like you described! Come to think of it, that's pretty much what I did several weeks ago when a sweet old 94 in 38-55 was offered to me. ;-)

Please help a rookie, what is this picture? The wood is old, the screws are a little bit boogered, but the receiver and lever look brand-new color case hardened.

What ever it is, I want one.

Complete metal rebuilt, yet to get some XX grade walnut from Treebone Carving! It shoots as good as it looks, 5 shots into an ace of spades at 50yds no problem!
