Hi folk's, just got back from the ranch------3 dead hogs, one smelly old boar and two sow's----i'm going to cure the hind quarters off the sows for Christmas ham's http://historicshooting.com/mybb/images/smilies/smile.gif-----------the two sow's were dumped under a feeder, first one was DRT---the second got curious fatal error !!!! and again DRT

The boar was crossing near the blind at about 150 yards-------the hollow point had the same effect DRT------------didn't even twitch

The load is 375 H & H, alloy is 30/1, boolit is 270 grain NOE with 1/8 x 1/4 deep cast hollow point--sized wrapped and resized to 0.377 lubed the patch with JPW---------52 grains IMR 3031--1 grain dacron filler-------loaded just touching the lands.

i had hope to improve the performance of the 375 H & H with 270 grain cast HOLLOW points, Paper Patched and find this load is an extremely deadly combination-----DRT literally flattened em where they stood !!!!!!!!!!

Caleb, my youngest daughters Beth's, oldest boy used my 22-250 Ruger #1 with 60 grain Nosler Partitions to collect his first Whitetail Buck-----------i'll get arround to 22 caliber cast bullets -------he loves shooting and cast will help him keep expenses down---hope he can wrap those itty-bitty lead slugs--we'll see

range was 100 yards and he placed the bullet exactly where he was schooled to put it from the single cartridge he had---------through the heart----the buck bolted and piled up at 20 yards

Loved the pics and the story!!! Good shooting all around, don't have to worry about filling the freezer any more. Someone done good teaching that young man to shoot!!! Shot placement is much more important than energy size or any other factor, a miss with a .50 BMG is still a miss, a center mass hit with a 22-250= back straps on the grill!!!

Good shooting! The 375 really seems to like cast, maybe one will follow me home some day!

Great thanksgiving weekend. I always love to see the kids getting game, the smiles says it all.
Have you run that 375 load over a chrony?

Great shooting by the young man.

Depending on Weather conditions I may test that projie out of a 223 black rifle Friday- Sunday.

Hope to use C312X150 GB Boolit out of the Type 99 7.7X58 if rin will stay away.

Hi TCLouis-----------thanks, and i hope your experience with the Nosler is as positive as mine has been---------------i load it at around 3200 FPS in the 22-250 and it has performed very well on Whitetails

Caleb is getting a 22 caliber mold for it over the holidays ----time to get him makin his own :)

Have a Great day

Congrats to you both! Is the high shoulder shot your preferred shot on hogs? I have heard other guys talk about how it just dumps them where they stand.

Hi Dan----------its extremely effective----on sows i try not to ruin the shoulders, double lung shots there, for nasty old boar hogs for coyote bait i like quartering to me and place the slug in the front shoulder and out the off hindquarter-----the 375 just slams then DRT :)

I "twoferd" hogs last season with my Sharps big hunks of lead are incredibly effective for hunting
