My USFA 32-20 barrel slugged .312, should I use the Lee .314 sizer die?

Does a dummy round with that size bullet chamber easily? Have you measured the throats?

Neither yet, I'll check the throats next.

I size my 32-20 cast to .313. Not USFA but 6 others and it works well, so well that I have never slugged the bores or the throats.

Where do you get a 313 size die?

The throats slugged 0.311 - 0.3115.

The throats slugged 0.311 - 0.3115.

I see no point is sizing larger than 0.311 unless you lap them out to 0.312.

Doesn't matter how much larger than .311" you make your bullets, when they exit the throats they will be .311". If you used a .315" bullet it would still be .311" when it exits the throat. Revolver throats are the worlds best sizer die. What you need to know now is if the groove diameter is .311" or a tad smaller. I've never had a USFA firearm so can't answer how consistent they run but the groove diameter should be no larger than the throats.

The grooves slugged 0.312. I need to pick a size die, I guess I should try 0.311 and if I can't get good results that way I can open the cylinder throats and the size die up to 0.313.

There is a guy here who will ream your throats to all .3125 or .313, they need to be slightly larger than your groove diameter. Then you will know what to size them. Is it Dougguy?

Does anyone know who this is? The cylinderguy seems to be out of business. I read up on reaming the throats and it's not something I'm too keen to try myself on a $1500 gun that would be next to impossible to replace.
