This be an exclusive wildcat requiring no case modification. Start with a .454 Casull rifle and a Lee 405g hollow base. Face the nose of the bullet off to make a wadcutter and load it backwards. Basically a 270(ish) grain hollow point wadcutter over 10.0g of Unique.
It lightly engraves the rifling and leaves two lube grooves in the case for lube. Perfect.
I faced these bullets off in my lathe. If they shoot well, I will set the mold up in a 4 jaw and face the mold down, removing the nose, down to the top driving band.

If if it'll shoot straight, and I don't see why it won't, it'll certainly live up to its name. The 454CC or 454 Critter Crusher!
A friend says it looks like a flying beer keg. LOL!!

....and exponentially more expensive.

With an oilcan style full wadcutter meplat, there is zero need for a hp in .454!

Yeah, but it's like smashing a bug twice. No need, but it feels good.

Looks good but how is accuracy out to hunting distance?

Just got some together this morning. Gotta take them to the range and see. That's why I faced the bullets off one at a time in the lathe, no need to modify the mold permanently if they don't shoot.
BUT, being as "hunting distance" around here is about 50 yards to the next honeysuckle thicket, I'm betting they'll be just fine. Only trigger time will tell.

While you are at it - why not try drilling big HP's in a couple of those as cast HB bullets without the trimmed noses? Then do an A/B test to see which one flies stable and is accurate at the distances you are after?

At full length 405g I can't get them in the .454 Casull case with enough room for any real amount of powder. Done tried that my friend.
