Something I just dicovered

Kevin & Brush stopped by on there way to ET,s. I asked Kevin to bring me two lb,s of Swiss
powder.I weighed 30 grains of Swiss & 30 grains of Goex, both 3fffg.I used the same powder measure
to the exact amount. 30 grains of Goex weight was 27.3 grains by weight.30 grains of 3fffg Swiss was 31 grains by weight.

We all know Swiss is more powerful. could this be why?I need to get the crono out & do some testing.
Swiss is still the best powder out there no question.It burns cleaner, & shots more consistent.But is it
really more powerful, if measured by weight, not volume.We shall see.

From what I understand Swiss is denser.

Yes that seems to be the difference in weight.The do press it to 30 tons.
I don't know what goex press there too.

Keep in mind that all powders vary in density from lot to lot. Weight will vary with the density of each lot for a set volume, and the volume will vary with a set weight.

The density is probably the reason Swiss is deemed more powerful than Goex. Add the extra Goex to make weight and Swiss's advantages mostly disappear.

Weigh them out five times and average the weights. You will be getting some variation in any process including doing this.
