Does anyone here that shoots the 454C use the Accurate 45-335C mold? http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=45-335C-D.png How do you like it etc etc. I've just started casting and loading for this caliber and am trying to get input on a mold for it. I like the looks of that big meplat and the weight, but would appreciate input from those with more knowledge on the 454 that I have.

Thanks!

First, I have NO clue about the mold you are asking about. I do own a FA in 454, and I've found that due to the length of the cylinder, some bigger bullets will not work in FA 454's. Just a thought to share!

I've never used that particular mold, but it sure "looks" good. Not overly wide, not stupidly overweight. Just check the nose to crimp length before ordering to make sure to allow some room for boolit creep during firing.

I hunt with the 454 but dont use this bullet, although it does look right. I think we get over critical sometimes in regards to minute changes in bullet profiles. Load some up and see how they fly.

I use the 340L and 340B from Accurate with outstanding results. Of course, I ain't shooting a pistol, it's a rifle, but still. The 340L is a friggin sledgehammer.
The 340B is equally at home in my 45 Colt Blackhawk and does very well there also.

I don't have that one, and I can't really comment on how it would shoot, but I just got an Accurate Mold and it casts better than anything else I have ever tried.

As long as the nose length gives you 0.030" of cylinder length left, give it a go. Looks good to me.

In a FA, the nose has to be.4 or less to avoid tying up the cylinder. I have used a close facsimile of this bullet from an LBT mold for years that a friend casts and sells, works great in both the 454 and 45 Colt.

Guess I should have mentioned this, the gun is a Ruger SRH in 454, not a FA. Aren't the cylinders on the Ruger a touch longer than the FA? I'll measure and see if it'll fit. I may try this one out.

I shoot this one:

The one you are looking at is almost the same nose profile as the 345 I put together for my SRH. I think the design you are looking at will work out very well.

I picked the Lee 452-300 for my first venture into cast bullets. I did so to avoid paying the high prices folks wanted for commercial ones that would hold up to the pressures. I have the 6 cavity version and can dump a bunch of them in a short time.

While it might be a GC'ed version I can assure you that it hits like the Hammer of Thor, and nothing I have taken with it has gone anywhere other then rear over ears or straight sideways and down. I also am happy with the accuracy of them running with straight ACWW they will hold around 1.5" or less at 25yds standing with a two hand hold, out of my 8.375" Raging Bull.

I did however pick up the 280C to give a try, but after working with it in my 45 Colt I felt no need to push it any harder. That said this was also using some alloy which was in the 12bhn range, and I would have to back my loads down considerably to use it. With a harder alloy it would probably work out great though..

The Lee 300 grain RNFP should work good also.

I've got the Lee 452-300GC mold for now. I was just curious if anyone had the Accurate mold and what their thoughts were on it. I'm waiting on GC from Blammer to arrive so I can load up some of the Lee bullets I already have cast. Looking forward to trying it out.

I have shot 2 1/16'' six shot groups at 100yds with that boolit in the RSRH and a full case of h-110.

Get the Lee 250 rf mold too, 8gr of bullseye = 1000fps and is acc too.
