For quite a few years WC-820 was my favorite powder in .357 and .44 Mag's. Then the surplus powder market dried up and WC-820 became very difficult to find. I then went to Alliant 2400 and H-110. This caused my reloading costs to go up a little and I didn't get the performance I was looking for. I missed my WC-820. Low and behold .... today I found 24 pounds of WC-820 and it all came home with me. I'm going to give it a good work out in my 454 Casull along with my .357's and 44's. I figure 24 pounds should last me a few years.

Good find! That is some useful powder, not just for handgun ammo but small rifle rounds as well. My 7,62X39 CZ bolt gun loves it!

What do you call 24 lbs of WC820?

A good start. Congratulations.

I've got 32lbs that I bought some time ago from Bartlett. I will be trying it out in my Alaskan. I usually shoot heavy weights...what grain bullets will you be shooting?

My Type 56 SKS liked it as well. In fact, it was the only powder I used in it once I finished my #1 of 2400.

Excellent powder. I've used many eight pound jugs, and I'm into my last one now. I sure wish Jeff Bartlett would get some more!

There were 2 burn rates that I am aware of so test it before loading a bunch of ammo to your previous specs. I have some of the "fast" batch that seems to be faster than AA#9.

Three 8 Lber"s - where the heck did you find that

Three burn rates if one goes back to the 80s.

Make sure you do not have the lot I call WC820 FAST, it is essentially HS-7 speed and that was the information Bartlett supplied with it.

I have some really old stuff that matched H110 exactly when compared . . .
Same Gun
Same Cases
Same Primers
Same Powder Wgt.
Same Boolit
Shot Same Day
Same Velocities

Then the 820 FAST (available for a relatively short period of time)

Then the WC820 like AA#9 which it seems has had the longest run.

The #9 comparable WC 820 powder does really well in my aught six with RD 165s (21.5 GR) and reduced proportionally to the case volume the same results in the 7.7X58.

My AA# 9 speed batch will not light consistently in either the 44 or 357 Mag with standard pistol primers. Weird, but true. Finally got some SP Mag primers to try, hated using any more of my SR primer supply just to get this stuff to perform in the 357 Mag.

Oh and don't forget Junior 1942's loading behind the GB 7mm Soup Can in the TCU.

its probably my favorite pistol powder. I actually prefer it to 2400 and 110. It has the best attributes of both. I picked up about a 100lbs of it years ago and still have probably 50lbs left in stash. don't be afraid to try wc297 either. Its a bit slower burning, about like 110.

I had sent bosterr a PM but I'll go ahead and answer it publicly. I got the WC-820 from Mike at www.Mastercastbullets.net (http://www.Mastercastbullets.net). He is located in Enon Valley PA. I'm pretty sure I got the last he had. He did say it might be possible for him to get his hands on more. Mike has a very nice cast bullet business. He also has a reloading supply shop and I noticed several powders on his shelves that haven't been seen for awhile. WW-231 and H-110 come to mind. Mike allowed me a look at his automated casting and sizing operation. It was the first I have ever seen those types of machines in production and it was an education. He even offered to let me have a pallet of virgin commercial alloy for free if I could pick it up by hand and put it in my truck. Had to be done all at one time. He might have linotype for sale and his is genuine lino that comes from print shops. I don't know how much he gets for his lino as I told him I had spent my play money for the next couple months on the powder. Mike has a lot of contacts that could come in handy here as he is very big in the Cast Bullet Association. I hope this helps your needs to know.

I contacted Mike at Mastercast to see if I could send and money order to reserve 2 jugs. He was fine with that, that's what I did. My GF is from Hermitage and Enon Valley is just a short drive south of there. Next time we're that way I'll pick it up.

I'm in Clarion, where are you?
