6 shots at 50 yds...can cover it with a quarter
#311284/210gr sized 0.311
31 gr of 4895...about 1850fps122785


YES IT IS A .308 WINCHESTER

A .308 I presume? I like the 311284 in the .30-06.

I love 99s, never wanted anything but the rotary mags, but there is a really, really nice 99c in a local shop I've been thinking about.

I bought this new in the late 60's...at the same time I put on a Leupold 2-7 scope with Buehler scope mounts. The stock finish is getting a little thin and the blue patch on the stock is my home made (detachable) cheek rest. The cheek rest is a piece of semi-soft backpacking matt held on with non-adhesive but self-sticking bandage wrap.

Very nice rifle, thanks for posting pics. Awesome wood for a Savage, nothing against straight-grain stocks but I have a weakness for rifles with pretty wood. I've never been disappointed by a rifle with pretty wood.

That's a good looking rifle. I took my 99 out deer hunting tonight. IMHO it's one of the finest hunting rifles ever made.

NICE!!! I recently took possession of a 99F in 308, a companion to my 99F in 300 Savage. The 300 is a great cast boolit shooter. I've only done some preliminary reloading with 150 grain Speer and Sierra bullets and surplus 4895 in the 308 and it really shoots great. Cast boolit reloads are in my plans for this winter. I love 99s.

Is that the 99C with the removable magazine? I can't quite tell from the picture.

The 99 is such a slick rifle, and your is in great shape... and what a group you shot!
