You see these in the stores, and you think, ehh looks pretty cool, great idea, and then you pass and pick out a traditional turkey, once you see the price..

We wait until the middle of January when they go on sale 50% off, and buy ours to put in the freezer.. Then come Thanksgiving time in November, we thaw it out and cook it, as they keep in the freezer very well.

I don't have to tell you how good these are, Oh MAN they are delicious! Partially deboned turkey stuffed with a chicken, stuffed with a duck breast, cajun sausage and cajun seasoned cornbread stuffing. Cooked on a wire rack, the juices make the absolute BEST gravy you could want, very complex set of taste and smell when all the ingredients condense into the pan drippings.

Just wanted to give a heads up, if you want something a little different this year and happen across one of these, they are REALLY GOOD!

Yes they make a Turducken breast as well which is 9lb or so and half the price, same great flavor profile.

This year you can also find "Turducken" cake..it's a big cake that has a pumpkin pie, a mince pie and an apple pie baked inside of it...I'm just a plain old Turkey with fixins and pumpkin pie with whipped cream on it..the other stuff is just too confusing.

+23 on that!!! I've had turducken and was not impressed--mine was made by a Cajun meat market here. I guess it's neat and all, but nothing I would do again.

I did one on the grill several years ago. It was brought up from Alabama. Haven't seen them locally.

I've always wanted to try one, but MAN are they expensive.
We just pull a homegrown bird from the freezer instead.

We wait until January, when the stores put them on sale 50% off! They keep well in the freezer until next Thanksgiving! They also make a turducken breast, about 9lbs and half the price of the 14lb bird.

Ironically, this year's turducken spent an extra year in the freezer because I was recovering from cancer treatments last year and couldn't eat! You would have not known it! Juicy, and skin was SO thin and crispy, it was perfect!

They could be stuffing a turducken inside an Emu, and stuff that inside an Ostrich.

Ostemuturducken.

If you ever have a good quality turducken out of a meat market in Louisiana (or even better homemade) you will snurl yer nose at anything prepackaged! Until then some of the prepackaged are just danged tasty!

You know, I have plenty of critters around here. Maybe I should try smoking a "beoatbit".
Beoatbit = beef/goat/rabbit

Might need to build a bigger smoker.;)

I actually got to cook on that thing when Grand Forks flooded in 1996(or was it 97?). Dave Klose from Klose BBQ pits arranged to have it delivered and he rounded up several semi trailers worth of food and we cooked for 3 days straight to feed the people sand bagging.
