What is the best length for the Extreme 115gr bullets for a 9mm load? I'm in the 1.090 range....long enough?

Minimum OAL depends on the smokeless powder you are using and the length of your bullet. HP bullets can not be seated as deep as the same weight RN bullet because the HP is longer than the RN if they are the same weight.

I have a listing for a 115gr hollow point a Hornady bullet. It is 1.105 for length and I was starting a load at 4.4 gr of 231 I'm thinking of lengthening out my bullets to 1.105 Hornady book is their 3rd edition.

Lymans 49th edition lists a 115gr Jacketed hollow point at 1.090 oal

to my surprise, a X-Treme HP 115gr is 0.505" and a X-Treme 9mm RN 115gr is 0.550"

So a X-Treme HP 115gr can be seated 0.04" deeper than a X-Treme RN 115gr

According to the "Modern Reloading Second Edition by Robert Lee", most powders have a min OAL of 1.14" for the Copper Plated 115gr RN which means that the X-Treme 115gr HP has a min OAL of 1.10", still depending on the smokless powder used

Would an OAL of 1.090 be ok for the 115 hollow points?

Piecing together info from the reloading manual, Quickload and the Hodgdon site, at 1.09"col, Winchester 231, 4.4 -> 4.8gr. I would definitely start at 4.4gr of Win231 and work my way up

Its still missing a few of the new powders but it has a lot of smokeless powder in its database. I like it because I can change the length of the bullets manually, like I did for your X-Treme 9mm 115gr HP, which I happen to have a box or 2 of...

There is also a forum dedicated to Quickload on this site

I think I'm probably too old to justify the purchase but thanks for the info.
