Last purchase a modern in-line muzzleloaders Pedersoli brutus in caliber 50, i tried the bullets cast from a beautiful mold company Accurate Considering that i shot at 110 yards with iron sights, i dare not imagine how it will go with a scope.

Two other good results after some work on the weapon's accuracy
Same charge as above, nine shots at 110 yards
123080

Same charge but with black powder 1.5 F, seven shots at 110 yards

What is the diameter of those bullets? Great shooting!!

WE need more info on the bullet, weight, diameter, lube etc!!

The bullet resizing cal. .499 weighs 600 grains, is made of pure lead and lubed with thompson Bear Heat Bullet Lube Solid and that between the powder and the bullet I placed a wad made with beer coasters.
High on the post there are information charge.

That would be an interesting bullet paper patched. You say it is resized to .499 but what does it come out of the mould at?

Saltner
11-29-2014, 01:59 PM
resizing and grease with lyman 4500 at 500, and with Pedersoli manual sizing die at 499, mold casting bullets from 500

Finally i shot with a scope, a gunsmith do the weawer inclined rail 20 MOA cost half a kidney but are all well spent.
I reused an old Leupold 6-18x40 duplex reticle and i thought of doing groupings better than iron sights ... I probably have a good view

reduce in size to .492 and paper patch it. however shoots so good that way that it may not shoot better with paperpatch.

If I were sure that shoots better with the PP perhaps others would throw away $ 150, but i want to try the sabot and the ignition with 209 primers.
I've seen amazing results with sabot and balls cal. 45 from 250-300 grains
.Honestly i have already spent too much for this scrap metal i'd be happy to be able to hit the prey to 110 max 170 yards.

That boolit would be good medicine for Colorado bulls. I just ran out of 460 gr NoEx's. I'm going to have to order a mold from Accurate!

These boolits are contagious , all curious to try these heavyweights, it would be interesting mold for PP 660 grains :bigsmyl2:

your 1/24 twist could even shoot a 700 grain bullet. drop every thing in north america and alaska. i do have a 724 grain paperpatched mold for that gun.

With that weight would fall every creature on earth, and perhaps even other planets.
As I said Roger, i want to experiment with the sabot bullets from 250-300 grains to see if it improves in accuracy and especially with higher speeds can be able to shoot 220 yard without having to get up to a 20 inch ia 110 yards.
With this parable is like shooting with a mortar :bigsmyl2:

Finally after several tests i got the desired result.
4 shots at 110 yards
90 gn. BP Swiss 3F
Sabot MMP 3 petal-ez
Hornady FTX 250 grains

i wont speak for saltner but its faster than normal for a inline. the low twentys i think.

OH you have a scope?? Not trying to bust your bubble but my Lyman peep site hunter barrel traditional with Rons S&W bullets
shoots groups every bit that good. Not trying to be a A$$ hole but it does. Pedersoli makes some dam fine rifles & I have a few,
including a 1860 Pedersoli Gibb,s. That thing is a traditional long range muzzleloader & that gun wholes the world record at 1200 yds.

But yes you have one nice rifle Fly

I say to all:
- Dualsport ... the twist rate is 1:24
- Johnson1942 ... we're friends and you can talk to my name when you want and your package will start next week ... mouthwatering - Fly ... the Gibbs have already divinely and shoot but to go hunting in my country the law obliges to have a scope.
In the next hunting season I want to use this cannon and invest mouflons (sone of bighorn in miniatures can weigh 110 pounds)

Yesterday i shot 220 yards, there was wind and sand bags provided by the organization of the race was not good, it was hard to to stand still.
Anyway, i'm satisfied
I am puzzled ... 110 yards i set the shot at + 4 inches, to the center 220 had to aim for the top edge of the target !!! Practically a parable mortar.

I used a pair of those Pedersoli .50 cal tubes in a double rifle project. They are excellent shooting barrels!

saltner, how does your garden grow?
My crops of vegetables have gone to great! Beans and peas in abundance, beautiful potatoes, salads lush and abundant tomatoes. Unfortunately the artichokes have suffered the heat and made the tough leaves.
In a month i will be a father for the second time !!! I'm very busy with work and family, i hope to hunt.

I confirm that this combination is miraculous, 4 shots in the same hole, the first at the top was the shot that had loaded the morning for hunting and i shot after 7 hours.

Here is the wonderful company Accurate mold.
He had to give 255 grain bullets but with pure lead are 274 grains
Tested at 110 yards i did groups by 0.7 inch

Saltner; Very nice! The lead bullets will be good for practice, but the Hornady XTP and FTX are expanding bullets. I would expect the Hornadys to be a better killers, but then you will find out in actual hunting. I'll want to know about your hunting exploits in the field. Thanks for this thread.

i had fun, I did very noisy experiments.
You already know the weapon and the results obtained with the sabot, bullets weighing from 452 250 to 300 gn. The 250 thrusts with 90 gn Swiss 3F and 300 with 80 gn.
What I invented today?
Pushing the mammoth 600 FP with 80 gn Swiss 3F
The fear of recoil with the weapon of only 3.6 kg was justified, the boom similar to a quarry mine, the fireball to sprint and smoking, have frightened the shooters next.
I had never experienced a similar feeling, I can not find a comparison of the noise and recoil to another weapon.
Paradoxically fairly accurate as well.

Hehe yeah, 600 grns lead over an 80 grn charge is a whomper, and in a light gun? nice shooting though
I have almost the same accurate mold in 300 grn. I'm still experimenting with it, shot one deer with pure lead and it did way too much damage on the exit. I'm trying wheel weight lead now

Saltner
07-30-2016, 08:34 AM
What does Whomper?
Today I still exaggerated and I loaded 90 gn Swiss 3F.
Too exaggerated, it is indomitable.
To pierce the paper at 110 yards is sufficient 50 gn swiss 2F and is relaxing.
I tried to find a combination with a bullet modified by me, I turned the mold LEE .50 caliber miniče ball 360 and I got a conical ball 412 gn, unfortunately are all scattered.

Whomper means big hitter. Both ways, target and shooter. Above ~80 grains with the big lead, you may start lead problems in the barrel.
