I was deer hunting a patch of woods next to a couple hundred acres of standing corn. I had my trust 1984 microgrrove 1894 Marlin loaded with 14.5 grains of lilgun with a NOE 360-180 WFNGC.

i didn't see any deer all morning so I got down to head home. While sneaking along to corn field I saw a coyote dash into the corn at about ten yards. There was an old farm lane that runs 1/2 mile along the corn. I stood there for about three minutes and low and behold that yote stuck his head out of the corn at about 150 yards. I already had my little carbine shouldered waiting for the curious coyote to pull this trick. I let a bullet fly and hit him good! He ran about 30 yards.

I forgot to say,357 mag! My marlin 35 remington won't chamber the NOE 360-180 wfn. I wish it would.

Looks like a great shot. They are curious critters. I got a red fox once coming out of the chicken coop with a hen in his mouth. He also made the mistake of turning around and looking.

What are coyote pelts going for nowadays?
The last one I sold brought $12.00.

Local fur guy won't buy our coyotes. He says they have too much dog in them.

congrats DJONES. I love seeing dead coyotes.
Can't wait to get back out in the woods when I'm off this week. I'll be taking my 629-2 loaded with cast boolits to see if I can get my first deer with a handgun and with cast. I already got a buck and a doe so I will be hunting for a nice fat doe or two as I have some friends that would like some venison but they don't hunt.

Lawdog,

my little 1894 357 carbine is a straight shooter with the previously mentioned load. I am very confident with it. I actually never thought the yote was that far away until I found his tracks in the snow where I shot him. The best part is the carbine only wears the factory iron sights!
