Just picked up a super 14 with silhouette sights at a gunshow.

Thinking about scoping it and using it for deer. Anyone have one, any tips with cast or J bullets?

The Hornady 210 grain XTP shoots very well in My Blachawk. Load it atop 20 grains of Win 296 and a CCI mag LP primer.

A number of years back, I owned a 10" Contender and it shot very well with a hard-cast 240 gr TC. I had the mould made up by NEI for a silhouette bullet in the 10" DW 741 I was shooting at the time. Was using a compressed charge of H4227 in the wheelgun but would have to go back into my notes for the exact charge weight. One thing I do rembember, though, is that those full-house revolver loads were no fun, at all, in the 10" Contender...sheared the forearm screw after 5 or 6 rounds. As I recall, though, backed off a grain or two it shot quite well...in the neighborhood of 2" groups @ 50 yds with iron sights. Like LeadMelter, I got pretty good results with JBs and 296, too.

I have an early one, shoots like a house afire. You'll like it.
