So I inherited my uncles Ruger M77 tang safety .22-250 back in '99 when he passed away. Great shooter with J words. I've never ran cast though this rifle. I think it will be a good one to try. It has a 1 in 14 twist.
I'll be trying the Lee Bator boolit. My first attempt will go as follows.
Boolits cast from 3-1 WW/Lino for 16BHN
No gas checks, sized to .225" and a light coat of 45-45-10
All brass was sorted by headstamp and weight
Boolits were sorted by weight and weigh 50.6-50.7gr
Brass was trimmed to 1.900" WLR primers will be used. I'm thinking around 7gr of Redot or 700X to start for a light plinker. I'll ramp them up a bit when I use real lube and gas checks.
My only other attempts with 22 cast has been with a 1-10 .223 and my 221 Fireball. Mixed results. You all know how fussy these little pills can be. Not sure when I'll be able to go shoot them but I'll report back with results after I get out.
Any tips for loading cast in the .22-250 are welcome
