I'm essentially starting from scratch here. I've loaded some 9mm for friends, but I've never owned a 9mm long enough to bother working up loads for myself. Now I've got a 9mm on the way that will be with me for quite a while, and I'm looking for a good place to start.

What molds are you guys using? I'd like to find a 4+ cavity mold to keep production times reasonable.

I'd like to find a low smoke load that shoots consistently and runs 950-1000 FPS from a 5.5" barrel. I'm wanting subsonic and low smoke specifically because many of them will be shot through a suppressor.

Please share your favorite recipes!

I am using AA7 at 5.5 grains and Herco at 4.5 grains under a 147 grain boolit giving me 885fps with excellent accuracy in my Beretta barrel.
You will want to start lower and work up to this load to make sure it functions your pistol properly.

I am using Lyman 358212 mold which drops at 146 grains and works well. I don't know if they ever made one in 4 cavity.

I am also very fond of the NOE 358-135-fn which is available in 5 cavity and is my most accurate boolit. I run it at about 1050fps. Not sure if that is too much velocity for your suppressor.

3.7 grains Accurate #2 and Lee 356-120-TC is what you seek!

I've got a Miha (MP Molds) 6 cavity 148 grain mold. Really fast production with that one. I've used w231 and American select for powders, but my notes aren't handy right now to give the load.

None of my load data will help you, it was all done using longer barrels. I doubt with something like a 147gr and 5.5 in of barrel you would need to do much if anything. Standard load data is not gonna end up supersonic.

I don't cast for my suppressed 9mm, don't want lead in my Tirant, but my load is 3.6gr N320 under a Hornady 147 FMJBT. I also tested AA7, which spit all sort of junk into my face, and CFE Pistol, which sounded the same as the VV, but was slightly dirtier and required more powder per charge. I see velocities in the neighborhood of 950, low ES numbers, and less cleaning with the VV.

I'm using something very similar to the one ThaDoubleJ posted.
My load is 3.7gr N320 under a plated 147 FMJ.
I recorded velocities in the neighborhood of 980 fps in my 92.

And clean burning with the VV320. I have a friend using VV340 for his loads.

Thanks guys!

I'll look into the VV powders. I've only used them in limited runs before, but been fairly impressed. I think I've even got a couple of cans of N320 sitting in the powder locker...

I'll check out the Lyman 358212. I may have one. I'll also check out the other suggested molds.

The suppressor I'll be running these through is a large capacity unit with easily cleaned innards, so I'm not too concerned with leading it up.

Tried this load today in a Browning Hi Power using Black & Blue's 125
gr. CN bullet sized at .357", and it was really good. Thanks!

I use the lyman 356637 147gr 4cav. Drops at 155 with 50/50. 4.4 gr power pistol is very nice

Can't help with a cast bullet load. I have loaded thousands of 147 jacketed over 3.6gr Tite Group for use through UZI SMG with a Gemtech Raptor.

Titegroup works and is fairly clean burning, I use 3.5 grains of it with a 147GMJ out of a Sig P228 or Marlin Camp 9 with an SWR Trident suppressor.
