Lil gun powder and Hornady v-max 45 grn bullet. WHat twist rate does it have? The original hornet was a 45 grn lead bullet.

Noe just made a run of them little 45 grain lead boolit molds, that I'm hoping mixed with a little powder and probably a small pistol primer is the cats meow.

I'm having trouble with the freebore. My NOE 226 45 gr RF can't seat out very far, the bullet is groove diameter all the way to the ogive. Just ordered the NOE 45 gr WFN which should work. With a 14:1 twist, anything heavier might be tricky. I'm going to try the RF's anyway, over 6.6grs IMR-4227, and up to 6.9grs.
Got a bunch of new PRVI brass at Grafs, can't recall price, wasn't bad though.

The old Lyman 3rd edition C.B. hand book has loads for 37, 41 and 45 gr.

One more thing, I had to modify my seater plug to push on the nose. All the die sets it seems, are set up for jacketed, and my OAL was all over the map. Mine is a Redding, I filled it with JB weld.

Here's the brass link http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/12629

ATR, I found some info online posted by Beagle (John Goins). Here's the link. http://www.castpics.net/subsite2/ByCaliber/Cast%20Bullets%20in%20the%2022%20Hornet.pdf

Interesting addendum pertaining to using small pistol primers.

I've had great results on targets and on prairie dogs with the 45 grain class jacketed bullets over Lil'Gun powder. I haven't used any other powder in the Hornet after discovering its usefulness in the 22 Hornet.
