The 15th is opening day of MI firearms deer season. My daughter will go out with a rifle for the first time, she is already a good small game hunter but tomorrow will be the big one. I am so excited! So is she, we worked up the load and cast the boolits together, built the blind and spent some great days at the range. Rifle is a 94 trapper with lyman peep. Boolit is Lee 310 430. Gas checked over h110.

I'm heading up to our cabin for the second weekend of firearms deer season. Family was there last weekend. I was bummed that nobody else wanted to go except my son. Then silly old me realized I have the best hunting companion I could ever ask for. My son wants to go hunting with me! He's 12 and turning into a man.

Good luck to your daughter, Nagantguy. Hope she gets a nice buck. I'll be going out tomorrow, too. Up till now, I haven't been too excited, but this morning about about 40 minutes ago, I saw two bucks walk across my property, one was a nice 8pt, with a tall rack, the second one, I couldn't get a good look at it, but seemed like it had a smaller rack. I really, really hope they stick around for a couple of days! They were only about 60 yds from my blind.

Good luck! Even if she doesn't get a deer make sure she enjoys the woods. Point out all the little things, the birds, squirrels etc as you sit or walk. How I did it with my nieces when the deer were no cooperative and they learned a lot about the woods. Even the way the woods sound different as a deer moves in.

I remembered taking my daughter squirrel hunting last season for the first time at 6 yo. We stomped around the woods while she talked, pretty much, non stop. Didn't see anything but it was a hunting trip I'll always cherish.

44 mag on the 94 action with a shorter barrel.
