Hey gents. Local fun store has a Marlin 375 in good huntable condition for $395.00. No cash here so I would like to see somebody get it that appreciates it. I don't stand to benefit from the sale in any way.

Had a real nice one sale locally for 650 a few weeks ago. Had the itch but no scratch.

Man.....that's 2 hours and 47 minutes from my house, by google. Probably only 2.5 hours in real life.

$400 for the gun, $100 for the trip, $200 for scope and mounts, $100 for dies and brass, $100 for another mold............

Better not.

Great rifles. I just wish I could find a cast load for mine that is consistent. Almost ready to give up and shoot jacketed.

375449 sized to 379 made from water dropped ww's.
aa-1680 or aa-2230 works just fine in mine [at jacketed speeds]
I'm gonna back the velocity down some by going straight to the 2230 powder as I don't need all that recoil.
the same loads work in both my marlin and my model 94.

That's an awesome boolit but AA powder is a bit scarce around here. Funny thing, a modest charge of RL7 works just as well under that classic Lyman design as it did under a j-word..probably better.
Hope someone makes a home for this Marlin, passed on a similar rifle last year because it was a little rough for me. It was also priced north of $600 IIRC. This KY rifle sounds like it's worth a look.

rl-7 is a good choice too.
I seen some toda err yesterday then grabbed 2 more pounds of the 1680.
the trick to the marlins is to work around what they call a throat.
you gotta get across that gap and into the rifling.
I tried filling it with longer brass and a bunch of other stuff then decided to ignore it and concentrate on getting right near the rifling with the boolits nose.
that worked.
I talked to Michael [ranch dog] about it some at the time, and that is basically what his designs do in the other calibers he designed his molds for in the marlin rifles.

In my Winchester I seat to the 2nd groove of the 375449, only needs a couple of grooves for lube anyway.

The common as dirt 336C on the rack next to it is $425.00. Question: I know .38-55 and .375 are not interchangeable, but is it possible to fire form .38-55 to .375?

1. Yes but you will probably have to trim the 38-55 a little since it is longer.
2. For a bit too short case you can fire from or expand 30-30 brass.

Right now .375 brass sometimes brings $2 each on gunbroker so I would skip it and go with 30-30 brass.

Thanks. I read in a couple places that .38-55 brass and ammo usually works in the .375, sometimes better because the the longer case puts the boolit closer to the rifling.

Charley,
When I had one some years ago, I used the GCed Lyman bullet with straight WWs, sized to .377 (only size I had at the time). I used AA 2015. It shot good up to 1900 fps., but 1750 fps was about right recoil wise. I've heard some of the newer ones had some chamber/throat problems.

Found some new 375 brass earlier this year for a decent price, they had some other brass I needed as well.

Wish it was closer, cause I've always wanted to give a try, seems like it would be excellent deer medicine!

I've got one of them that I've had for 20+ years and am finally starting to have the time to play with it. Of all youz guyz that shoot cast bullets in them what diameter should they to be sized to?

FergusonTO35 (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/member.php?23987-FergusonTO35) did you check to see if they have a layaway plan ?

FergusonTO35

They do, however I already have a gun on layaway. Somebody snatched up the 375 pretty soon after I posted this message.
