What boolit diameters are you .41 Magnum owners loading? What cylinder throat diameters are you measuring in your Rugers?

I do not shoot Rugers, but LBT molds drop between .412 and .413 with my alloy and I size down to just a shade over .4115 and they work great in my S&W's.

.410 has worked well for me.

My .41 mold is an MP. It drops right around .413 and I too, size to a shade over .411. Works great. Don't have a Ruger in that cal, though.

I have the Lee TL410-210-SWC mold. With a 50/50 WW/Pb alloy, it is dropping bullets around 215 gr.

I powder cost them and then resize to .401". It pretty much removes the lube grooves.

I use them in my 10mm. :)

For both of my Rugers, I size to .411 with good results. Good accuracy and no leading.

411 is tops in my RBH, 410 in my Smith. No leading issue from either and both shoot well.

Chambers in my S&We run 0.4115-0.4117. I was getting leading in forcing cone using 0.411 sized boolits. Now I'm using 0.412" boolits and all is good.

.4105 works great on both my 225g LBT-LFN & 235g Keith slugs in T/C Super14, DanWesson, S&W and Rugers. all groove diameters check out +/- .0002 from .410 and my throats range from .4105 to .411.

I slugged my Ruger and it came out at .4095" Figuring I needed at least a thousandth over groove, I procured a .411" sizing die.

Now if I seat my MP Molds #258 SWC bullet to the crimp groove, the rounds won't chamber.

I'm going to try sizing to .410", if that doesn't work the throats will have to be reamed.

I use .410 for a S&W.

NavyVet - if you fill the lube grooves with lube before you size, the grooves will stay the
same size.

Since I'm powdercoating the bullets, I don't need the lube grooves anyway. :)

I size to .411 and have no issues in my 657 pistols or my marlin lever

Thanks fellas, reason I asked about this, I had a couple of requests for cylinder throat reaming for .41 Magnum and I wanted to see what others were shooting and size the reamer flutes a little bigger. I asked Dave Manson for a reamer .4115" - .412" so it will be somewhere between those dimensions, and finish a couple tenths of a thou over. I can then hone far enough to accommodate a .412" boolit when necessary, and still have nice round evenly done throats.

Thanks to all who responded as I will be adding this caliber to the list for cylinder throat reaming services.

Dave I am interested in cylinder measurements before any reaming. I have just taken up interest in the caliber and thus far in my work it is fairly good on paper.
Just curious as to how much of the talk I have heard on the .41 size and dimensions are true. Most say it has not had enough following for all the makers to do anything from the original specs to "improve" it.
