Replacing a BLR Firing Pin.

I think the firing pin in my BLR is broken, I has not misses a beat, until today. Good strikes then with no warrning light strikes, even with two hammer blows its not sending the bullet down range.

Does anybody know how easy it is to replace the firing pin?

How old is your rifle? It might be a build up of crud around the firing pin usually when you break the pin it won't shoot at all.

Just looked at my rifle assembly guide. It is not hard, but it is a long process. You will need brass punches and steel punches. The firing pin is held in by a single pin. Getting the bolt out of the rifle is the challenge. Here is a guide that is pretty cheap:

You will need to pay attention on reassembly as the rack and pinion gear has be timed properly.

Thanks Guys, Its not shooting at all now, so suspect its the firing pin. I got the down load and it looks easy enough- famous last words.

Quick up date it my not be the firing pin, i just fire off two primer only cases without a hitch, i my not have had the level completely closed...

Oh, maybe it's a headspace issue with your reloads?

My pre 81 broke a firing pin spring 15 years ago. I had intermittent ignition.

Head space mmm not looked at that...

Dam i better replace the spring just in case a intermittent fault wouldn't be good on a completion line...
