Thanks folks. Long time reader deciding to finally get started. I learned about contender barrels and the throat or lack of. My first attempt had this boolit seated to the crimp groove. At 50 yds. several different starting loads were around 4 of 5 inches. They were all sized at .309. My barrel has a nice Burris 10 power scope on it since I can't see iron sights any more. Looked in the Lyman manual and they mentioned Unique would be a good starting powder. I seated the boollitet out as far as I could and still chamber. I ran half the loads through a Lee .309 then lubed. The other half went through my RCBS sizer. All 6 loads were in one ragged hole. No difference between the Lee and straight my RCBS sizer. So one less step. That is about as good as I can shoot. The Chrony said between 1000 to 1140. With 50-50 they weigh 120 bare. I have been getting too many rejects when ladle casting. Last night I cast up a pile as I need more to test. I turned the temp down on the Pro and went as fast as I could go. A nice pile pretty quick. Not sure what the actual temp was since I dropped the Lyman. I sorted out 11 rejects. They usually go back in the pot. I saved them to try them out next time just to see if what I'm tossing is bad or not. Last and most important I wanted to thank the forum and all the members that are so willing to give us newbys a head start. Thanks to all, Mike
