Hello to all,

I am currently in the process of completing a research paper so I can graduate in January and would greatly appreciate help from members of the board. Please take a few moments to read all the information and answer all the questions in this survey so I can collect data for my research.

Thanks so much

No I had not read this article, it is an interesting read and supports what I have long thought about the use of biometrics as a means of authentication. I realized after I made the survey hot that I pasted a rough draft of my Appendix A in to the Survey. The rough draft has scads of grammatical errors and typos. Oh well I almost have enough data to call it quits in any event.

I do appreciate all the help it is appreciated.

Questions were okay, the way to answer needs help, more or less knowledge is not really the way to answer 2 pf the questions

I completed the survey, I'm in the computer server and security industry and I would like to point out that there are many other, better security measures that are in use in the industry. Biometrics is unreliable at best...

A must read research paper for anyone wanting to educate themselves in the pitfalls of relying on biometrics:

http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=12720&page=1

Biometric systems are used increasingly to recognize individuals and regulate access to physical spaces, information, services, and to other rights or benefits, including the ability to cross international borders. The motivations for using biometrics are diverse and often overlap. They include improving the convenience and efficiency of routine access transactions, reducing fraud, and enhancing public safety and national security. Questions persist, however, about the effectiveness of biometric systems as security or surveillance mechanisms, their usability and manageability, appropriateness in widely varying contexts, social impacts, effects on privacy, and legal and policy implications.
The following are the principal conclusions of this study:

Human recognition systems are inherently probabilistic, and hence inherently fallible. The chance of error can be made small but not eliminated. System designers and operators should anticipate and plan for the occurrence of errors, even if errors are expected to be infrequent.

Sorry dont do biometrics, too much mark of the beast for me

You, Sir, have given the correct answer!

Please forgive my correction of your minor spelling errors, but the utmost clarity is important for people to recognize the camel's nose entering the tent!

Plus ONE for the grammar and punctuation errors in the survey - and glad to hear that was an initial draft - although it was published (here!) - and those errors are very off-putting in a scholarly paper...
