"I loaded up 5 each of my version of the .475 WLNGC boolit. It weighs 429 grs. Half were H110 and half were 296. I shot them at 100 yd's from my BFR revolver. The point of impact was close enough for hunting but the 296 loads were more accurate.
The holes with the black rings and yellow marks are 296 and the orange marks are H110."

I just got my new 475 BFR today. Care to share your loads that are working soo good in your gun? Where did you get the 429gn mold? plainbase or GC?
Are you useing pistol, rifle, mag primers? what velocity are they running at?

Thanks

I put a Houge Mono grip on it tonight for a Ruger SBH. It fit pretty close, but leave a kind of dangerous looking edge out. I almost think it might cut me under recoil.
I think I'll take the dremel to the grip and inlet it so it will go up higher on the frame.
Mine is the 6.5" bbl, but it measures 7 1/8" I guess they measure from the front of the frame. My trigger is kind of long, so it'll need some attention.
my bore is .473x.477 and the throats are .478.
all I have so far is the two Lee molds in 325gc and 400 pb. The 325 will need beagled to fit the throats.

I put my loads in the cast boolit post for you. I don't think your bore size and throat size was was measured right. BFR holds pretty tight tolerances. I use .475 and .476 bollits and don't see any difference in accuracy. I will measure mine and get back to you.
I get average 1350 fps with the Lee 400. Hotter loads are not as accurate.

You shouldn't have a problem with the top metal with the grip. What was wrong with the grips that came with the gun? They work fine! I have never been hurt with them.

I better give you the loads again. For the Lee 400 gr, I use 26.5 gr's of 296, Fed 155 primers. Or 15 gr's of HS6 with Fed 150 primers, very accurate and more then enough for hunting. I haven't found the lighter boolits accurate in the BFR. 400 and up are the way to go.

I have the Lee 400 and 2 of the 325's. I'm going to mill one of them off to make a light plinker.

I just like the Houge mono grip.

Am shooting both a 435 LFN and a 375 WLN. The 435 load is 25gr H110, Just started working with the 375 both Bluedot and H110 show promise. With the 375 am working for a load in the 1200 to 1250fps range. The 435 mentioned earlier runs righht at 1400fps out of my 6" gun. Yes 6" had my BFR shortened to an honest 6". The pic on the right shows a 435 revovered from a deer taken this last fall. The deer was quartering toward me at approx 75yds. It broke the front shoulder entering traveled diagonally through the deer breaking the rearleg just below the hip joint and came to rest just under the hide where it fell on the tailgate of the truck during skinning. This load was 21gr. H4227 traveling at 1220fps from my revolver.

I made my own moulds. The 429 is a gas check and looks just like the 435 gr WLNGC. I use 26 to 26.5 gr's of 296 with it too. I have a 417 PB WFN that put 5 shots in 5/8" at 50 yd's with 26 gr's of 296. The drop of the 429 is 4" at 100 and the WFN is 6" with a 50 yd setting.

I have never been able to get WFN's to fly. Seems to like LFN's or WLN's much better.. Whats your secret.

I don't really know why this boolit shoots so good. I have tried many others that a friend sent and have made another mould that looks the same. All are the same diameter and hardness but don't shoot good. I have always had better luck with the WLN until I made this one.
Here is a picture of them. The WFN on the left shoots best, next is my WLNGC that shoots very good. My next one (third from left) does not shoot good at all and the last two were sent to me. These only shoot fair with an occasional tight group.
The very worst boolit was a semi-wadcutter that went were it wanted to go and several other WFN boolits that would not group, I melted them down or shot them up.
It seems as if just a subtle change can make a boolit a winner or a loser.

I expect a million theorys as to why one boolit shoots better then another. I can only say it is just luck and when I start to cut a cherry I never know what I will get. Sometimes a booit is amazing and the next one is no better then what you can buy. I can't sort out the reasons so I can predict the next mould.
The Lee 400 gr boolit will shoot as good as any other boolit I have tried and better then most. My WFN only beats it by a small amount. I have taken the Lee boolit, cast hard and ran 30 straight pop cans at 100 yd's from sandbags. I use 26.5 gr's of 296 and the Fed mag primer. I neck size my brass only with Hornady dies. The dies are part of the secret and I won't use any other.

Tested the Montana Bullet Works 375gr. WLN sized .476 this weekend. The Bluedot loads did not measure up. The H110 loads did very well. Since I have never been able to get a WFN to fly this will work well same meplat size as a WFN but accuracy of a LFN

P.S. the shot in the upper right of the group was 1st shot, clean barrel still didin't open group to much :)
