Just wondering what bullet you 50-90 shooters use. I have a 420 grain lyman and a BACO 620 grain creedmoor. I got some 700 gr. round nose and some 685 Hoch to try also. Chime in with your favorite boolit. Thanks Bill

You don't give much help for getting a good answer. What is the ROT of your barrel?

Sorry,it's a badger, 1 in 26 twist on a winchester Hiwall. I shoot 1 fg Swiss and Old Ensford 1.5. The accuracy is no problem ,but the creedmoor bullet doesn't seem to carry enough lube to the end of the barrel. I thought about a lube cookie but have never shot one with greasers. I shoot a bore diameter 670 gr.P-P and wipe between shots and everything is ok then.

Well with that 1/26 twist that 670 might be the way to go. I use a 715 gr Brooks creedmoor in my 1/22 Shiloh that is just shy of 1.5"
Cant say for sure where the 1/26 bottoms out at but I would thing about 600 gr. I can drop down the about 1.35" with a swaged PP bullet but the accuracy is not as good as the 1.5"
I don't understand your fouling out with the BA bullet. I never found this to be a problem with my 34" barrel the .50 has.
If you feel that it is a lube problem cut some felt wads or buy some lubed felt wads and put it between two cards or fiber wads and see if that helps.

I'm using a 650gn Paul Jones Creedmoor with 105gns FG

Mind the 50/90 is only a small bore next to the 58/95 :bigsmyl2:

BAW.

I like the Big Boys Guns. Girly guns are ok but....
Tell me the story about the .58-95 :)

I've tried alot of bullets in my 50/90 Sharps and the most accurate, hands down, is the Lyman 515142 a 515gr. Fp pb sized to .512", in my Badger barrel. Cast 20-1 or so it usually weights closer to 530 grains.

I built my version of the 577 "Super Snider" on a large framed Martini using a new Lothar-Walthar barrel and a 620gn plain based boolit. The darn thing just shoots 'big'holes very accurately!
