I like the price of Promo and it seems that it would be a good powder for standard pressure loads in a .44 special. Have any of you tried it?

Same weight for weight as Red Dot , but not volume
Same burn rate

I talked to a Teck Rep at Alliant , about it a while back
Just use it at listed Red Dot load weights in both pistol and rifle

I burn a lot of it in the rifle , 38 and 45 colt
I see no reason to think it shouldn't work equaly well in the 44 spec

works just like red dot. use red dot data by weight not volume.

So what kernal shape and size does Promo have? Any chrono data showing position sensitivity?

same shape and size as red dot...except no red dots in the powder...otherwise it would be called red dot.[smilie=1:
