A week or so ago I cast a hundred 250 gr GC boolits for my Ruger No 1 in 9.3x74R. I finally got a chance to take it to the range today and try it out with a fairly stiff load of 5744. I was happily suprised. From a rest three different 5 shot groups went 7/8", 1" and 11/8" at 100 yards. Shooting offhand 5 shot groups opened up to 3-4" (I wobble). This is with a 4x scope. I am happy. I think I will take the beast
deer and hog hunting. On my property in the brush county it is unlikely I will get a shot at over 100 yards. More likely 50-75 yards.

Sound's like it should get the job done, and with extra to spare. Be sure to show some pics when you get something.

My 9.3x74R Ruger No. 1 has the prettiest wood I've ever seen on a factory rifle. It sports an XS Sights sight set. I'm shooting a 270 grain LBT LFN GC bullet at velocities from 1600 to 2100 fps with excellent accuracy. Powders include IMR3031, IMR4198, IMR4895 (2100 fps) and WC860. With the aperture sights it shoots five-shot groups at 100 yards that are under two inches, often by a considerable margin. This is one of my favorite rifles.

I really like that Ruger chose to get into the older cartridges like the 9.3's and the English NE stuff. I have a 450/400NE 3" that is just fun to play with, so versatile in the cartridge setups I can use with it. It does whatever I need it to do. And a person really can enjoy shooting them with the versatility the cast boolits can give them.
