I have seen the TC flintlock's in Hawken form advertised as being 1 in 66 twist. do any here know if this is correct with the flintlock barrels instead of the 1 in 48 twist for their Hawken and Renegade barrels in cap lock?

1-66 is your good friend with round balls.

Standard T/C 28" Hawken barrels, both flintlock and cap lock, had 48" twist. Some T/C Hawken rifles are seen with aftermarket barrels, such as GM, that may have a 60-66" twist. Also, those aftermaket barrels were usually longer- 30-32".

T/C made roundball twist barrels for Hawken & Renegade rifles. they're usually 30in long & have "1 in 60 roundball twist" in a banner markin' on the side just in front of the lock or near the rear sight.

Yes, T/C made a longer, slower twist roundball barrel- in part due to the Pennsylvania muzzleloader hunting regulations. IIRC that model of T/C was called the Pennsylvania Hunter.

I have a TCH with old style walnut stock, 32 inch .45, 1:48 Orion barrel and it is deadly accurate.

bought mine in the early 70's and its a 1 in 48 and loves round balls. Saw one identical to mine in a pawn shop recently and they were asking 279.00. I thought that was very reasonable but no extra dough so it stayed.

I had an older flintlock renegade in 54 and it was 1 in 48

This is correct. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Thankfully PA eventully got rid of the "round ball only" rule. We still have to use flint locks in the regular ML season but are allowed to use any bullet.
