Is there a difference in Blackhawk frame sizes on current production guns? If anyone can learn me or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

The New Model Blackhawk is the large frame used for the .44 Magnum Super Blackhawk and .45 convertibles.

The Flat Top is the smaller original .357 size frame.

I have three New Model Blackhawk convertibles, .357/9mm, .44 Mag.,/.44-40 and .45 ACP/.45 Colt which are all on the large frame and I like them. They are hell for strong and can digest a steady diet of hot loads. They aren't pocket guns.

I had a LGS show me a Flattop and a Convertible side by side, there is a pretty obvious difference in frame size when you have them side by side. I have the 45 colt/45 acp convertible and love mine.

On the other hand, if I could find a Flat Top in 327 Fed Mag and the traditional 6 shots...

If you want beefy, Super Blackhawk is a Wendy's Triple... and they shoot. I had a two inch group at 50 yards with my cast boolits....

I like my Flat Top 44spl. It holds about all I need or want. There aren't too many critters that can stand up to 270gr bullets at 1000fps for very long.

If it has a 2 digit prefix in the serial, it is the LARGE FRAME. If it has a 3 digit prefix, that is the medium frame.

I have the flattop convertible and like it very much. 8.5 gr of Unique under my 260 LSWC is all I will ever need out of the gun. I now have two loads that shoot pretty much to POA in both 45Colt and .45acp so life is good.
