Old Boy @ the gun show was a private seller who rented a table, no paperwork, no tax. He was the original owner of this 25-7, 5" barreled .45 Colt calibre gun. I jumped on it for $625.00, he didn't have the box.

It just so happens, I have a period-correct, cardboard box for the 25-7 :)

He also had a Redfield 75 peep (complete w/ Aperture ) sight for $20.00! I took that too, who wouldn't!

Sweet deal, that is a bit less than I paid for my Model 25-13 Mountain Gun, wish mine didn't have a lock, but it shoots extremely accurate. Congrats!

Guys, thank you gentlemen!

FlatTop45LC, a 'lil story...

I have the stainless .45LC Mountain Gun! Years ago, the LGS got 2 Mountain Gun .45LC's in. I waffled, the next day, they both were gone! Then, a year later, one of them came back. It was still NIB. The guy bought it, and just put it in his safe. Then the next year, he decided he needed an AR. The NIB Mountain Gun was used as trading material to get the AR.

I got the Mountain Gun @ a great price. They were a 5000 piece run.

There was a used one (w/ box) @ the gun show yesterday, $1,250.00, I saw one on GB go out $1,650.00, 3 gun shows ago, there was an elderly gent walking around w/ a .45LC Mountain Gun and a 624 4" .44 Special, no boxes. He wanted $800.00 firm for either of them. I jumped on the 624, that too was a 5000 piece run.

I may have another of your dream guns.... a Colt Anaconda 6" .45LC. ;) Yeppers, I likes dem double action .45LC Guns! :)

Great find. The 25-7 was a run of 2000 guns and they shoot pretty good. They were some of the first 45 Colt S&W's to have proper (or closer to it) dimensions for cylinder throats. Congrats!

I have the pre-lock 625's in 45LC and 45ACP. They are great guns, but the will not replace my 610's.

Joni Lynn, Thanks! Just 2000 piece run, wow! Yes, the S&W throats are correct. My .45LC Mountain Gun has correct throats also. I made my best ever off hand shot w/ the mountain gun. I knocked over a iron ram @ 220 yards w/ my first shot. Yes, it was a lucky shot, but really impressed the folks @ the Silhoulette range. ;) I quickly switched to the easy 150 & 100 yard iron, Ray Charles could knock those over.

My Colt Anaconda has larger throats.

mattw, I also have a pre-lock 625 .45ACP, 5" full-lug barrel. A monn clip is the ultimate speed loader. Brownells sells a nice tool for unloading the clips.

Probably some of the most accurate .45 Colts Smith has produced in years. They finally got the throat/bore dimensions right.
I can recall way back in the 80's getting all excited over the newly released 25-5's. My 4" gun could barely keep 6 shots on a BIG paper plate at 25 yds after a few cylinders full leaded it all up.

Ended up having .457" throats with one an honest .458" with chatter marks on it from the reamer. What a disappointment.

Waited 30 years and Smith finally did it right. You should really enjoy that 25-7 Congrat's on a nice snag.
