Most people just write on the ingots.

for me, muffin is soft/pure, wedge is range scrap, and lino stays in the raw.

I just use 1/2" metal stamps to ID my ingots with a hammer. Its easy to do and one set of ingot molds does everything that way. What would be handy but expensive would be ingot moulds with an insert that could be ided and changed out when going to diffrent alloies.

There used to be something like these, but I don't think anybody is doing it now. Mebbe I'm wrong. (but it would be cool!)8-)

Beagle333, I think something similar is already in the works...

I mark my COWW with a regular chisel (no metal stamp kit) and I don't mark my pure lead. I just started to use range lead so, I have to find a permanent way to mark them, also. So far, I stack them up and spray paint the ends green for range lead and red for COWW. I'm spray painting the ends for a better visual indicator, I think I mixed a batch of COWW with some ingots of pure lead a few months ago.

I just mark mine with a magic marker with what it is: Range Lead or COWW and Soft Lead and the date I poured them. Gives me a reference to how long they stick around. So far, works pretty well and when I stack it I keep like metals together.

I am a noob but just used a screwdriver to put a cross the L in Lyman, on the ingots, for a new mix. Other, pure ingots, are left untouched. I guess other alloys will get a mark on another letter.

Harbor Freight steel stamps are dirt cheeeeeeeeeeep! I have all sizes the make. They will last a lifetime stamping lead.

Hold/tape 4 together to spell LINO or SOFT or COW.

Easy!

The HF stamps work great. I like the fact that they won't wear off and the letters make it pretty clear, although you could stamp an entire word on them.

WW for wheel weights
RS for range scrap
P for pure

I made 4 ingot molds from aluminum channel and angle. The angle forms the ends and acts as handles. The ends are angled and they stack nicely at about an inch thick, two inches wide and about six inches long.
