It's been a whirlwind year, this 2014, and I'm thankful for a number of things, but chief among them are our two adopted girls. The youngest gave us a granddaughter in mid-August. I already have a .25ACP derringer for her, I'm just looking for an IDH (Inside the Diaper Holster) that will fit her.

And yes, the spoiling has already begun.

Last week, I took the oldest to the range. They are closing on their first house this week so she's in a new neighborhood, taking the boys to a new school, new baseball league, etc. It had been hectic and stressful and so being the good dad that I am, I suggested a few hours at the range.

Couple of guys came over and complimented me on her targets, which made my entire week.

You should have tried to get her started earlier and not waited so long on the .25acp. Great looking family.

Well done sir, gave those girls a house with love and rules and fun and safety. You are a true man and I'm proud of ya! Nice lookin all around and what a great target. Ex works fer adoption agency she is the leasion between perspective parents and foster homes and orphanages ect. Not every kid gets the happy ending yours did and that makes you and the mrs. real special folks.

Man there is just something about those Grands, and girls in general. We had two boys, and our first grand was a boy. OK we know how to do this. Then came the second grand and She changed everything in this family! Congratulations.

Glad to see you back and I'm glad the book is coming along as well as it is. I look forward to reading it. Daddy's and daughters, something special there. I have 5 of them, and 5 grand daughters, the grand daughters call themselves my minions. You are a blessed man. I do have sons and grandsons as well, and they are special to me as well, just in a different way. Daddy's will always be protective of daughters, we teach our sons to be protective of others and worry less about them.

Congratulations JD on the Daughters and Grand daughters. Spend every moment with the youngun' you can as they grow up overnight. God is in his heaven and all is right in our world.

I love my daughters, but the 3 grand daughters put a twinkle in my eyes and tears--joyful tears. Last night my 16 year old played volleyball and won their district in the final game of the season. Even though the gym was full and everyone was taking pictures, she ran up into the stands to hug my neck and thank me for helping her with a school project. We are steam bending wood to make a curved shield for a history assignment. Got to love them and am going to see the younger two tonight.

I love my grand sons, but the girls just make us especially blessed it seems.

You forget how fast grandkids grow--especially when they're only a few months old. Had lunch with the youngest daughter today and I was the luckiest man in the entire restaurant--had the two prettiest girls in all of Dallas/Fort Worth sitting with me.

No matter how bad of a day, week, month or whatever I may have, I can simply pull up some pictures of our girls and their kids and Life falls back into perspective once again.
