I am wondering what some of you can share concerning wheel weight lead loads in 357.
I have the following molds:

150 ish grain LWC
158-163 gr RNFP
148 ish gr SWC
158-163 gr LSWC w/GC
Using SPP and LLA
My powders are, Trail Boss,Bullseye,BlueDot,bunch of Titegroup,Solo 1000,Acc#2 and Unique.
I load 38 spl in the 357 cases for target but would like to make some thumpers as well. After all, it is a magnum.(sp101 3 inch). I haven't tried the SWC/GC boolit yet. I'm thinking I can push them a little bit even at the BHN of straight WW by virtue of the gas check.Like I said,i'm looking for somewhat of a thumper load without overly excessive shock and awe. Thanks ...nixpap :coffee:

Use this one with straight clip on wheel weights or plus a little tin. Start low and increase to "Dang that hurts" with several of your powders. Check your manuals for loads.

For target use 3.2 to 4.0 grains Bulls Eye with any of those bullets.( 148 to 163 grains ) ( for .357 only- No more than 3.5 grains Bulls Eye in the .38 special case. )
Cut those by two tenths for A No.2.

For a moderate thumper, use 6 to 6.5 grains Unique In the magnum case.

for the 150-160 LSWC I've used 10-10.5 grains (Ten to ten and a half grains) BlueDot.

Decent unique loads involve any 150-160 grn bullet I cast (I have never tried this load with full wad cutters) on top of 7-8 grains (seven to eight grains) of Unique. Much cleaner burn as well with the heavier load.

Both loads use a standard pistol primer.

Both loads are nice to shoot out of a ruger blackhawk or a marlin 1894.
